For me I think it was the Bully 250.
I use to call pass Frazers Old (small) shop at Parramata Rd Ashfield, by day and by night, just to have a glimpse of the beauty.
Happily, and wisely I think, bought the MX250. But the sleek beauty of the Bully, and the lust of youth still lingers :-[.

Ivan Mauger's gold plated Speedway Jawa/ESO would have been nice................ ;) Tim, A jet black 1974 Wasp/ Honda754 Sidecar (small tank style) is another yummy wanted.
-
Rick Johnsons 1986 CR250 or any of Jeff Leisks HRC Honda's

when I was 15 my most desired bike was an RM400 like Anthony Gunters'. When I was 16 I got my wish ;D I've not really wanted for anything else over and above since excepting to be 20ish again so I could ride it properly ::)

as an early teenager all I could lust for was a gunmetal grey XR75,alas the parents bought a honda Dax 70
a white one with a floral seat :-[ well at least it had a motor ;D

A big Monty! I saw Peter Christian flogging everybody on one in 1979 and then had I one a year later. Spent 25 yrs wishing I had one again and one showed up in 2005. They'll bury me with mine!

Depends when, but in order:
XL100 (!? - was probably a damn sensible thing to want given my riding and maintenance skills at the time, but a weird thing to lust after).
'86 XR200 (starting to get it, but still making sensible choices).
'87 CR125 (finally, something worthy of lust).
Then I got all realistic and sensible again, and started lusting after things that were vaguely realistic with my dismal school-kid budget, like 10 year old YZ125s.
I've now got an 87 CR125 (which they'll bury me with), and a heap of those YZ125s that were ten years old back then... Still reckon a late 1990s YZ would be a good match for my riding ability, and still like to have a late-80s XR200 in the shed...

1975 RM125M/S - now have one, so a big tick to this VMX thing.
1976 TT500C - have had a few and would love to have the money to buy a perfect original one now.
1978 HL500 - have had one, so another big tick.
1979 Husky 390 in black and gold - never had one, but beeyootiful.
1978 KSI Thumper as ridden by Marty Moates - just superb
If I had to pick one, it'd be the KSI. Back then I most wanted either an HL or a KSI, and the KSI just looks better to me. No idea what they went like tho...

I always loved the 1981 CR125 or 250 Hondas.
I went to Adelaide that year and went to a couple of Honda dealerships and gawked at them for what seemed like hours.
I had the opportunity to buy one off Stephen Greenfield in Alice Springs about 15 years ago. It was all there but needed a top end rebuild. I remember him saying that nobody wanted those old things now so I could have it for $50.00........................ :o
And I just never got round to going back. What a dickhead................ ::)

saw my first Maico in 1969 at Foster Park. I was racing a Bultaco Sherpa S 125 and once I saw that Maico I knew I wouldn't be happy until I owned one. I was only a poor apprentice and Maicos were rich guy bikes so I settled on a second hand genuine 1970 RT1 Yamaha MX 360 I got for a steal from touring car ace Pete Geohegan. It didn't take long to realise that the Yamaha was never going to be a Maico beater so in June or July 1970 I got a loan from the Credit Union and went off to Blair Harleys to buy a new 400 Maico. Unfortunately he only had a 250 and his own (ridden only once) 350. I went home with the 350.
Thirty eight years later I still own that dear old bike. It's raced for thirty one of those thirty eight years and has only had one botom end rebuild and two top ends. I have continuously changed its livery from the original yellow fibreglass to orange, red and even a purple period. It's prety stock except for '74 model dampers and Wheelsmith single wind fork springs, a 38mm Bing from a Montesa, match port blueprint, an updated squish design and a good balance. It's had three different stock pipes, a Wheelsmith and for the last ten years a Peter Reynolds computer designed fatty. It's had Koni, Works and now YSS shocks and last year I treated the old girl to a PVL ignition, a rare Boyd and Stellings alloy swingarm and Wheelsmith rear brake stay/chain guide and brake pedal. It still has the alloy airbox I made in 1973 or 74
After tihrty eight years the old Maico is a dear part of the family and will never be restored again or sold. It's still rocket fast, arguably the quickest legal pre 70 2 stroke in the country. I recently refused a serious offer of $9000 but selling the old girl never entered my mind. How do you sell a part of your lifes history? I've left it to a mate in my will.

Already had one-before I let it go. Aw Maico. Pop would go to bank, get haircut-and I would go dream over bikes on old Irving Blvd-Maico of Dallas. Loved the 76-77 Aw Maicos the most-still do. Though I would love to have an Ossa GP3, Monty VB, Bultaco 192/193(1977), KTM/Penton MC5 250/400 76-77, 75 YZ360B, and any RM 75-77.
Firko, you should always keep your 350 Maico, that one is too cool, especially that you have always kept it. ;D ;D.
