Looking good. Keep at it! ;)

Beautiful job so far. Is that dark blue or is that my eyes playing up? Please keep the photos coming.

No need to get the eyes tested just yet. Yep it's dark blue.
Mate and I have decided to go green this year if we can get them ready in time.
Thought it was about time there was a different colour amongst all those yellow bikes.... even though that's what we rode last year.

82 250
Spot on that time. :)
-
Once the airbox cover and the swingarm were fiited it gave it away, although i should have picked up on the airbox in general the 1st time. The last air cooled 250, great bike if you can keep stators in them. The water cooled 83 was even worse.
-
Andrew McSwain from Mildura rode one of these back in the day, copped a fair bit of lighthearted flak for riding an "old" aircooled bike when all the other 250's were w/cooled, but he made everyone look stupid when he took to the track. Super smooth, relaxed riding style that made him look like he was never in a hurry, but his lap times always fast and consistent, and a nice bloke to boot. On a side note his little brother David was just as good and ended up being no.1 in vic for a fairwhile in the late 80's-early90's.
-
I have one of those, only partly done though & way down the list. I'll be keen to have a look at Blue Rock.
Cheers,
K

You seem to do good on the old aircooled bike also 311 ;)

Lastest pic installment. After many a long night spent in the shed after work I can now start going to bed at a reasonable time. Took the B1 for its 1st outing today. Still have some tuning and a bit of R&D to do before Blue Rock but overall very happy.

Very nice indeedy!
I like the idea of the single shocked, air-cooled KX and RM 250's. I imagine they'd be easy to keep runnin' and reliable.
Pre 85 250 class will be the premier class one day..... ;)

When are you coming to join us Rossco ;)

Nice build Bikeaholic
I remember a mate racing one back in the day.
It seems you not alone in rebuilding this model as I had a request for a pipe for one the other day.
If anyone has one of these 82 250's I could borrow to jig from I would be interested after Easter sometime.

If I hadn't bought this 250 L I would've snapped up that one of Big K's Jase. Now that I've got it I'd better do something with it. ::)
I'm parking up the Evo bikes after this year. 125 and 250 L's for me next year......
-
Hi Geoff, if you want to use mine to make a jig then let me know.

Very nice Bikeaholic. You should be proud mate.
311.... I grew up in Mildura and knew the McSwain's quite well from the Mildura Motorcycle Club... yes they were fast guys.
In fact my very first ever bike was bought from David McSwain (well from his Dad to my Dad). It was an 1974 MR50 Elsinore. David was there the day Dad and I collected it... he was pretty sad to see her go.
Fond memories... I still remember the house they lived in near the channel in Merbein.... :) :)
