Title: Getting rockers back on the straight and narrow
Post by: Gerard De Ruyter (Twistandshout) on February 07, 2011, 03:47:50 pm
Preparing a TT250 for HEAVEN races.  Just gave it nice new top end, then pulled the cam for quick look, to find surfaces worn and rough, same with rockers.  I can replace the cam with aftermarket, just wondering what to do with the rocker faces.  I'm not too worried about losing a bit of lift if i file them smooth (as the new cam comes with big chunks), but wondering if the surface will last.  Any views?

You can metal spray them with tungsten powder and have them reground.

If the rocker has lost its hardness they'll wear faster.
If you keep the clearance adjusted correctly you won't lose any lift, but you will have to check it more often.
