Does anyone have any information on Paint No's or where to get the KX Green for a resto I'm doing on a KX500.
Thanks

G'day Ken, sorry i can't help with paint color ::) but interested in which model are you restoring?
-
Ken,
As Hoony asked, what model 500?

Hi lads,
I think its an 89, good training bike for the Maico :D ;D :D

If you don't want to go to the trouble of a "perfect match" through an automotive paint suppler, get yourself to a Bunnings store & look for Plastikote April Green in a spray pack. Damn near spot on, if not sot on! Used it on an '87 KX250 with excellent results in both finish & color.
Cheers,

Ken
does that model have a KIPS (power valve ) Ken?
-
Thanks Big K going to Bunnings tomorrow. Hey Hoony, what the hell is a power valve ?? Dont have them on Maico's ;D ;D

A power valve is one of the things that makes old Maicos redundant. ;D
Plasti-Kote's green that looks right (I assume this is the "April Green" that bigk is talking about) is a very close match.
The Plasti-Kote paint is very slightly pastel / not quite lime enough compared to the Kawi original, but its definitely bearable.
This photo exaggerates the colour difference (frame vs plastics), but at least it shows what I'm talking about:

White Knight's "Bright Green" is also quite good, but not as close as the Plasti-Kote colour.

Thanks for your help Nathan, between you & Big K we'll get it sorted.
Do you reckon a Kawasaki Dealer would sell me a power valve, whatever that is, for my 81 490 Maico & maybe they'll sell me a power band as well ;D ;D ;D ;D
