Title: engine bearings
Post by: utsman on January 28, 2008, 08:44:48 pm
Hey Everyone,

I'm about to start a full rebuild on my CR500. Just wondering if you can get aftermarket main bearings/tranny bearings etc and if so is it much cheaper/ a good idea compared to getting Honda ones.

i would recommend original honda main bearings & seals for the crankshaft and use aftermarket for the rest. What model CR500 do you have?

of course genuine are ultra expensive - there are two options - get NSK or SKF to supply exactly the same bearing without Honda on the box for about 2/3rds the price or check out Racergirlsrock on ebay who sell after market kits at good prices and they are good bearings.

Dont know if the ebay lot do 93 through?

Best of luck

I went for all Honda Bearings. They weren't as much as I thought. I even got a Honda Rod kit which I thought you couldn't get. So be informed you can get Honda Rod kits, at least for 87 -01 500's anyway.
