Yea , thats Leisky , I done many meets together as a sidecar rider , his was just superior to watch . Sitting on that bike like a cat . It was always an inspiration for sure.
-
Nice pants......... ::)
I remember the first time Broc Glover raced in pink. I think his girlfriend told him if he went out wearing that, he'd better win. And he did!
Another cool shot Geoff. Thanks.
-
Leisky is my all time favorite Oz rider, got any more Geoff?
-
My fav as well. He had the best style .
-
nice cool shot goin around that berm of leisky....hey does anyone know of a member on this forum called squirtmoto...aparrently he has an ex hrc jeff leisk factory racer in his garage..well he said it on one of his posts in the (age vs era of bike ridden) section on general discussion... maybe we can try and persuade him to put up some pics on this section...
-
Squirtmoto is a well known QLD Racer (an ex A grade Victorian) and he has very nice Honda's (all Honda's are nice). he took his 1984 & 1987 Cr500's to CD4. i too would like to see his pics of his bikes posted.

What year's was he racing in Vic, Hoony? I might know him, or at least heard of him. ;D
btw I must be getting old, when I see threads with someone's name as the title e.g. Leisky, I immediately think some has died again.............. ::)

I've got some old video footage from the Wide World of Sports early in 1987, of the Carlsbad round of the Golden State series. Rick Johnson gets a bad start and enters the first turn in about 12th spot. He passes absolutely everyone on the way to second behind Jeff Ward. He goes past everyone (Broc Glover, Eric Kehoe etc) like they're standing still until he comes up to Jeff Leisk who I think was running in second. He passes Leisk who then passes him right back, and they're running side by side, inches apart, along the Carlsbad Freeway at ridiculous speeds.
They swap position about 5 times before Johnson finally takes a different line on a long uphill turn and pulls away. The thing that struck me was the way Leisk was the only one I saw that didn't seem fazed by having to race against Johnson (Kehoe actually seems to move over to let him by). I wonder what would have happened if he'd stayed in the US another year??
-
wow i would love to see that race, Johnson and Leisk. any chance you can convert it to DVD or get a video copy to me.
-
me too....pretty please.. ;D
-
Leisky was a pleasure to photograph, he always looked stylish.
Sorry to scare you Tony, I'll be more careful with titles in the future :D
These photo's aren't as impressive, allthough I think scanning them for low resolution for the web doesn't help.
I thought you might like that one Hoony, he was one of my favorites too, along with Williams.
Same corner,same place.

Leisk had spent a couple of months practicing in California, along with a few other Aussie's early in the year. It payed dividends for them when they came home to race. Especially for Leisk who dominated that year.

Williams was quick on the start but didn't keep his elbows up. (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a393/gmcloa/Leisk-Williams.jpg)
Some more of Trevor

i think i was in that race that day i will get bill to post some photos of his red bikes 8)
it ran last time i started it ;D
-
Hoony and Andrew, I'll give it a whirl. It's on a video at the moment and I'm not exactly at the cutting edge of home entertainment technology. I do however have a mate who loves stuffing around with that kind of stuff so I'll have a chat to him.
The footage is only highlights of the race and doesn't go very long, but there's some other interesting bits and pieces on the tape, so I'll try and get it all on there.
-
no worries mainline..... 8)
-
good man. if you don't have any luck with your mate i can transfer the video to DVD and of course you and andrew will get a copy as well.
-
Hey Holeshot, I can't see you in the photo. You must have been stuck in the gate.
-
yeah magoo i was there for sure i dont think i was stuck in the gate and i think there were more than 14 riders in race i remember that race because trevor williams and me had the only kx500s at that time very fast bikes that was when 250s took over from 500s you can see a mixture of bikes thats jimmy ellis on the number 3 yz250 8) ah those were the days 8)
it ran last time i started it ;D
-
So where does the "holeshot" come into it? Maybe midpack buddy might be the go! :-*
-
so you reckon i could holeshot leisky williams and ellis did it once at broadford shit my pants in first turn

-
I actually holeshot a race at Dargle in 1981 against Gally, Gunter, Beatle Bailey among others. Got to the first corner, went over the bars and got run over by about 3 of the bastards. Certainly put me in my place I reckon.
-
Hey "midpack buddy" did you also ride the Mildura Supercross on a 250?
-
Midpack Buddy, I love it.
-
you guys are all gunna die >:( and yes i did race the mildura supercross one year not sure if then ;D
-
;D ;D
That no. 7 cant be midpack, midpack sits down over jumps! I feel a tee bone coming on :P
-
Brad you better make sure you holeshot from now on.. that way Midpack won't be up for the T-Bone.
-
I was searching my photo's for a second Kawasaki, that was the only one I could find. The roll of film that started at Traralgon finished at Mildura so the events weren't that far apart.
-

It's 1981 at Conondale, and Mark Pace #13 on the Husky. And i think that maybe Dave Armstrong #367 on the CR450.
