Look at the bidding, old mate got outbid at $200 so he chucked $1000 on it and said it's mine thinking he wouldn't get outbid (as you would). But when the winner had the same idea and obviously put $1000+ I bet he didn't expect to only just win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That there is a perfect example of having to be prepared to pay the figure that you put in the box. I'd bet my lefty that both the high bidders didn't expect to have to pay that much. Someone has some explaining to do to the finance minister :-[

:D top of the listing I see new old stock front plates for my RM's at $39 buy it now..so I did :D impulse buy ::)

I have a good friend with 9 full floaters, which he is doing full restos on all of them, i know he has already spent many thousands on nos parts for these bikes, he found a good second hand x front plate in the uk and paid $80.00 and thought he was blessed, but look now to see a genuine one for the x model, new old stock on ebay, as it goes yesterday i showed him this one on ebay and said what would you pay for this he said up to $250.00, i said to mike it will reach up to $500.00 jokingly, if somebody needed it to do a mint resto, but this is getting out of control @ $1025.00, im now contacting all my rm ex racers to see if there fathers kept any in the garage roof, as they were all taken off most bikes for the scp rectangle (ma legitimate) replacement ones back in the day i hope i can find one ha,ha Bear
********this makes my nos front guards cheap hey guys*******

I agree Gary, that is madness, but I guess this makes the 1981 front plate the new holy grail part for full floaters. They are certainly quite rare,I have only seen one other on Evilbay in the last five years, which went for USD$300.
This latest sale is absolutely nuts.
Perhaps the recession is over!

He has got to pay for it yet these are the auctions you see relisted due to non paying bidder. ;)
-
OMG :o .......but i bet the buyer either doesn't pay and it gets relisted, or the buyer pays a much cheaper price, or it gets offered to the second or third highest bigger at a lower price. i think the winning bigger probably thought 'oh sh** when he won it thinking there was no way it would reach $1000 but then again he could be some real rich guy and have no probs paying that much for it if he has lots of money.
-
Surely this cannot be for real. I recon they are dummy bids ;) look at bidding @ $270-00 and follow it thru

Although lightly faded,i have a pretty good one fitted to my RM250C.
Found it laying in a mates garage a few years back and he said i could have it, and it fitted the C model perfect.
Perhaps i could put it on e-bay and get enough money to buy a RM500 :D

If not relisted give it a couple of weeks and then check the sellers feedback. Should be able to at least spot who the buyer was ;)

if only DC could get their colouring right...
-
From what ive heard, DC colour is now ok.I had plans to get one of their number plates. That fluro safety yellow is long gone. Its more the fitting of the parts that is DC's main issue and the fact that because they are vacume formed they take all sorts of short cuts to make the item almost right.
