Has anyone else got one or seen an 83 Spider here in Oz? I can only recall two in recent times. They seem quite rare. I have seen pics of a sweet one in QLD.

theres a nice one here in melbourne which will look even better with the new alloy  profab swing arm fitted, courtesy off bill eyler   :P

Yep, I think that is one of the two others I know about.  Mine is in Melb also -I am interested to find out how many are around

a mate of mine has one in the sunny coast qld. rides with the QVMX CLUB.

Hey Stevo,

I have a 1983 Maico 490 smashed me up pretty bad last Australia Day smashed rist and had a third degree burn on my back where back tyre burnt through my armor running flat out in third! :'(
Change the front brake backing plate to a billet alloy one from Les at VMX unlimited if you have not done so already. The old alloy fatiges and bolt comes out and next time you grab for some brake you kiss the dirt. :o
Still love this bike the best but with new respect. ;)

Hi Col, that is a beautiful bike.  Are you up in QLD? I have not started to restore mine yet and any tips are welcome. My RM250Z did exactly the same to me with the front brake plate - only some grazes and a shattered ego, so I guess I was lucky.

Hey Stevo,

Yep up in Qld and a member of QVMX & SCMC , just check for cracks in the wheels and make shore everything is locktighted.
Glad to hear of another Spider up here in QLD.

Hey Paul, thats really nice and original. I am only counting 3 Spiders so far. Col's in QLD and two in VIC.  Mine is totally original but in need of a complete resto

i nearly bought one before christmas but i know there about 3 or 4 at my friends in sth oz ,he  HAS 55 OR 58 MAICOS AT LAST COUNT  :o

Hi Evo - I think Col's was the one I meant in QLD. That is a great 84 Evo.   I think there is another 84 SC in NSW Heaven club.

So there are a few in Sth Oz hey - that dude has way too many bikes lol

no, go to  http://pimpracing.com.au/ and you will see his bike. he won the thunder cross last year pre 85 open.
