Title: suspension not required ...
Post by: speedaddic on January 25, 2011, 11:20:05 pm
Hi all just a suggestion for all the soft cocks that can't handle the bumps on a bowling green.
100 ft jumps mandatory out of every right hand corner.
I mean wtf any person that thinks that a pre 75 bike can't ride on the same track as a pre 85
Because they make the track bumpy is a complete soft cock.
If u can't ride the bike for its intended purpose than call some one that cares call life line...
Rant over   >:(

I don't have a problem with a rough track myself. I will cringe a bit when I hit a square edge bump, worried about my pride and joy. I'm guessing you are on the right side of 45? Motocross gets a bit hard on the body of the old boys and lets face it, they are old bikes as well. I think you should put that into consideration.

So his profile says he's 21yrs young.  Hasn't even got out of nappies yet.  Throwing stones without knowing the people.  Be careful of not alienating yourself from a great fraternity.  We have riders from 16 to 82yrs young and bikes in almost the same range.  no-one cares how quick they are it's the fact they've spent the time and money to rebuild or restore the bikes and get out there and have fun

I not you recently sold a CR125 (84) and looks like an extremely nice bike.  Do you have a pre75 bike as well and if you do can you show us all how to jump 100ft on one we would all be suitably impressed

Nice to here such nice language from such a young pup!! very respectful

Yer your right about the 100ft jump Haha .
I actually own a 75 cr 125 and enjoy riding it on  any track  and I'm no weedy 21 year old I weigh 120kg
I'm not trying to offend anyone.
My point is that a pre 75 bike and older can be taken any were by any one
I am sick of people say that a track is to rough or that a newer machine has made a track to bumpy for an older machine.
just needed to rant thanks for listing  :) :)

It takes all kinds to make up a bike fraternity.  From those who only ride when it's dry and flat to those who ride anywhere anytime.  Takes all those people to make this whole thing work.

Me too .
But the positives far out way the negatives in vmx. Maybe you need a wake up call by riding at a modern track and fight for a spot, having guys trying to land on you and getting stuff all track time. Not to mention some of the crap tracks. Then again maybe that's my perspective seeing as I'm an old fart!

It's all easy when you're 21 but when you're 40 it's tougher and at 60 much harder again. We have to cater for everyone, not just the fast guys who can and will ride everything. The guy coming last should have just as much fun as the bloke leading the race so we have to find a compromise to keep everyone happy and more importantly, for Joe Average to remain in the sport.

Hey Guy's I think Craig is just speaking from his 21 year old prospective. he has or does a lot of trail riding in the hills of Kenilworth so it is a ruff place to ride.

Craig, hold fire on the soft cock bit mate we blokes over 45 get a bit defensive about that word in more ways than just riding :D :D

Most riders of bikes of any age will ride on ruff tracks just because it is there and it is after all, a ride but wait till you have done 40 years of it and you too will be a bit apprehensive of it and not your first choice.

Nothing a couple of tooth picks and a rubber band couldn't fix. Don't ask me how I know. :D

Everyone’s gone soft alright, back in the good old days suspension wasn’t required at all, although a simple leaf spring on the front helped out some of the early soft cocks.

It was a bit annoying though that every bump you hit would make the handlebars slip a bit lower

those early Indians were for the pussies on rough tracks, real men rode the late 1880's Daimler steam powered rigid frame.

looks like the speedaddict has done a runner

Two thoughts for speedad-dik [only jokin]
I have seen lots of young blokes ride like they've never come off -for a while-'.till they do!
I rode a rigid T100 at Moorebank one meeting mid 60's and one meeting only. When I got home that day I got a hacksaw and cut the back off the frame.
The next day I was suffering from 'motorcyclists constipation', for the uninformed that is when the turd is riveted over at the end.
cheers pancho.

The bikes aren't complaining about the bumps, nor the young guys back in the day that rode them. Its the old boys that can't handle the bumps any more and rightly so. As we all know its one of the most physically demanding sports out there. Speedaddic(t) was talking about the here and now. He never said there were no bumps back in the day.
