Title: cmparitive between a 440 frame and a 490 frame
Post by: crabman on January 27, 2008, 03:49:29 am
I know how stupid the question may seem ( I apologise I am South AfricaN and not to bright) Does the 440 frame differ dramatically from a 490 frame ?
Would a 490 motor fit comfortably in a 440 frame ?
Any advice on the subject matter would greatly assist.

The motors are interchangable and the crankcases are the same. The '80 and '81  frames are fairly different in the steering head area, with the '80 model having a very high steering head and using longer forks. I had my 440 motor in the 490 for a while when i was rebuilding the 490 engine.
