??? Fair dinkum.
I bought a exercise pushy today. I also bought what they call a floor pump, just before closing time. The dude was trying to show me how to work it ::) how hard can it be >:( and naturally I said "yeah yeah yaeh Iam a fitter, I will figure it out(and it was really hot and he wasn't offering coldys).

Problem
It is not the normal scradder valve size on cars trucks and motorcycles. It is a little, small valve. I screw the pump on, I pump, the pressure gauge goes to a zillion, but no air goes into the tyre ??? Same problem front and back tyre ???
WTF am I doing wrong ??? too much beer, not enough beer, not holding my tongue right. :-[
Obviously there is something I am not doing right, sort of instruction, Please, has any one come accross one of these little valve things. Completely and utterly frustrated, Mick.
-
Mick try undoing that little knurled nut on the valve first ;D
Stan.
-
I was wondering why that thing was knurled for? Ok, I will report back.
By the way Stan, That was a serious op that you have had to go through. I have been meaning to contact you to wish you well. I guess I am doing it now. Good luck mate.

Thanks Mick,
all went well just got to keep stillish for the next 5 weeks. That seems to be the hard part :D
How did the pump work, any better. (by the way it baffled me the first time I saw one of those valves as well)
Stan.

I figured when I saw you straight back on here, Joking, that you had scored a good prognosis, outcome.
Whoohoo Stan.
No Joy, with the valve thingy but.
I see what you mean about screwing the brass knurled round part out. But No air comes out and no air goes in ??? I mean,,,,,,,,,,,,I thought I would be able to use the pump as a pressure gauge as well ???.
I just reversed the connection adapter and tried the pump on the guzzlerdore, it works great. I doubt I have two lemon wheels on the pushy ???
They are hard(tyres), So I guess I will just prep for the big day out tomorrow and figure out the riddle latter.
Cheers.

Mick De
They are called Presta Valves. (If you google them you will find a lot of info on them.)
Schrader valves are ones that you see on our MX bikes and Cars ect: Most good bike pumps have fittings for both.
The Knurled nut is like the cap on a Schrader valve, not really required to keep the air pressure inside. If you undo the knurled nut and tap the top of the valve you will hear the air escape. Sometimes when pumping up a tyre the top of the valve will require a tap to loosen it so the air can be forced past the seal it creates using the pump. The valve is self sealing and the knurled nut is just to lock the valve off.
Regards Slawesy
P.s Enjoy the pushie
P.S.S You would normally run about 100-120psi in those type of tyres
-
Like Slawesy said, loosen knurled bit slightly, tap down the valve to unseat it and make sure you have the correct adapter for the presta valve and not a schrader, but most adapters are reverseable to do both types.
and pump away..100psi.
I had the same kind of problem until i realised the valve grommet was reversable in my pump fitting ::)
-
Not a VMXer, but I was confident some here would know, thanks.
-
120psi in a tiny tube /tyre and a valve that looks like a bullet ... Hope it is seated good...
-
If you are running tubeless you can run as much as 200-240psi. When they blow they go off like a gunshot.
-
My point exactly as the valve stem cartridge may be pointing at ya goolies..... :( :( :( :( :( :o
-
Well geez thanks Tim, that's really encouraging. That area of the anatomy is already suffering after my first big ride. Not designed for comfort :-\
Combined with the fact that I am sure all the tin top pilots reckon I have KILL ME, I DARE YA! written on tee shirt.
I feel like I am a for real thrill seeker now ;D

Yeah Tim, I pensioned of the ball busting seat in favor of a bit of luxury. It increased weight by 236 grams.
I am know attempting to get it back to 8KG. First stop Walter, with a Titanium nut and bolt list.
...ever considered a bit of quiet, near sane sidecar racing ?? ;)
Are you taking your outfit to HBBB Tim?
