Firstly - are there any Yamaha gurus out there that tell me the Wiseco piston part numbers corresponding to what YZ360B pistons - is that confusing???
Secondly - is it pronounced Wise-co or Wi-seco????
Ahhhhh!
-
Wise-co.
-
Seiz-co. ;) ;D
-
You should be able to get a Wossner or ProX over your way from BB Importers, Norm's the guy there that nows but you will have to go through a bike shop.
-
I got warned off Wiseco pistons when I rebuilt a yz/wr. I was told to get a Pro-x piston as they were better quality and cheeper aswell.
-
Better tell that to all the LC250 Yamaha roadracers that received the same advice, then suffered cracks across their piston crowns from one small-end eye to the other... :o
-
try get a wossner from UK... just ordered on for my cr250 it was $190 incl little end bearing and an oversize piston kit...
Cheers Brett
-
Davy - you're a wanker!!!! ;D
thanks for the advice gents - shall go looking further now.

Ross, nothing wrong with the wiseco's and i have been getting full kitsw out of the US for $60, so you can afford to change them like you undies. you can use the MX 360 piston or the RT1 and cut your own intake arc if you prefer it that way
-
WHat oversize do you need ?
-
Freaky - you have forgotten me already :'( - I am chasing std 360B YZ piston - you were going to get back to me whether you had one for sale? But I see lots of Wiseco pistons in the US but don't know which Wiseco numbers correlated to what YZ pistons. Have started searching for Wossner and Pro X also.
-
1000's of people use Wiseco, i dont think they are that bad, Once in a blue moon you might hear of a failure but i bet it wasnt the pistons fault anyway. These days you will get the odd breakage of any component on a competion/racing vehicle, its the nature of racing.
I reckon it is Rick Horvat in USA who gets special pistons made up by Wiseco for older odd models not in Wisecos standard listing.
-
Wiseco kit #184, #220, #231 all suit DT/RT/MX/YZ360...at least that's what the good book says ;)
184 and 220 are possibly the older dykes single/double ring type kits in the blue boxes. Used wiseco's in most of my bikes for God knows how long and not a single issue to date even with these old kits ;)
-
Doc - thanks - have seen 184's but do you know if they match say a xxxxxx-96 model Yamaha one etc? Also can you mix and match - ie Yamaha rings Wiseco pistons or best keep same same?
-
Hi no luck with mix and match first thing I checked. I use the rick's pistons never had a problem with ricks or wiseco
-
the standard bore size is cheap as shit ( assume you have a steel sleeve in there.) can do wisco and yamaha, must have forgotten you :O) sorry i get easily distracted. the CD rings for the Wisco are universal to them so you they are thye same for the suzi kits etc, you just look up and buy the ring if its not in the kit liek a CD 2275 etc the rings are like $10 on ebay, like DOC and Leith said nothing wrong with wiseco, depends on the user and who does the clearances.
I have Rt1 standard bores unles you absolutely must have a yz curve. Ic an sell you a window or posibly a Piston port in 96/98 and you can scupt your own intake curve.
Depends how anal you are i guess.....................
-
Freaky - love you long time GI.
Mate - I have standard Yamaha rings - also have had both a MX piston and YZ piston in it - so would prefer the YZ piston. If you have a standard size YZ piston I will buy one from you?????
cheers
