Post by: zman on January 12, 2011, 02:07:04 pm
hi all ive put new head stem tapered bearings in my 82rm250 but idiot me forgot to measure everthing first so now when i tighten the nut on to the bearing its still to loose. i have done a search and it seems 5-7mm lathed off the stem will fix it what if i took 10mm off would it matter

I have machined the shoulder 6mm lower on the stem of my RM465X, based on what others have done on here. Haven't re-assembled it yet, so hope it'r right. Had a bugger of a job pressing the stem out of the lower tree, she let go with a bang :o. Went back together OK with a bit of heating and cooling.

I like the spacer, makes sense to have everything as STD as possible .
