A friend has asked me to see if anyone can point him in the direction of a piston or rings for a montesa 123 trials bike, from memory it was the first proper trials bike he owned & his first new bike
This is what he wrote
I would like to get a new piston and/or rings for my Montesa 123. It seems they are like rocking horse shit. Only one I found was on a French classic trial website and was a whopping 177 euros.
Does anyone know where to find a piston/rings for a 1973 Montesa Cota 123, 54 mm bore size. First choice would be a 1st oversize piston and rings, second choice a Std piston and rings or third choice a set of std rings. Does anyone know of a piston or rings from another make of engine that will fit or can be modified to fit? The gudgeon pin is 14 mm.

Tony, first ports of call are Jared at South West Montesa and John at Rocky Mountain Montesa in the USA both of which would be very helpful. If neither have them then try

These pistons are very good quality.

Thanks montynut, don't know why I didn't think of kevin breedon as they listed a rod kit for his 247 that he was asking about just before his trip to the Uk & spain to meet the guys from the new Ossa factory
Am I correct in saying Jared from Southwest is Cappra?
