I rang old mate over a week ago but no one has gotten back to me. Sales must be going well :-\
-
I just spoke to Ron Single. The bank details for direct depositing the money for the raffle tickets is....
BSB: 014691
ACCOUNT #: 248997609
ACCOUNT NAME: Ronald.T.Single.
-
sent the credit card details thru still no reply, that was a week ago
-
Same, sent mine a couple of days ago. Don't know if I have a ticket or not.
-
I'm not going to rush in and buy a ticket until you guys get some response from your enquiries, what's to say you'll even get e ticket once you've deposited the money?
I can't see them selling the 700 tickets with only 2 days to go.
-
I wouldnt worry about getting ripped off, met Ron and hes a straight up bloke, looks like hes busy put your name down before its to late to miss out on a once in a life time trip, dont matter I guess because I will win it!!!!!
-
I'm just wondering if the raffle will still go off if they don't sell many tickets?
-
Fair question Johnnie. With the advert in VMX and decent dollar per ticket you would expect a better follow-up etc. No doubt it's kosher though.
-
Rons a stand up bloke :) and straight as however i dont think he is computer savy and is relying on others to do email follow ups.
I think the whole deal was a bit rushed and optomistic to sell 700 tickets in a short time :-\However i wish the club every sucsess with this venture :)
I think the raffle is to be drawn on Jan 17th not Jan 7th :-\ we can all get behind this great fundraiser and buy a ticket or 2 :)
How is the weather that far up ? are they getting the floods :(
Bottom line Ron Single is a bloody good bloke and whatever the outcome of the raffle he wouldn't put anyone crook :)
-
Don't hesitate to have a go at this one!
Having been to Diamonds Dons twice already (and planning to go in 2011 whether I win or not ::)) I can highly recommend this a super way to enjoy some international VMX!
This will be the BIGGEST AHRMA race in 2011 and the Texan hospitality is just so fantastic!
Remember, you've gotta be in it, to win it!

You been drinking again Allycat?

If anyone's got any hesitations about this I can add that I've had a bit to do with Ron over the years and he's a genuine, fair dinkum kind of bloke who's pretty passionate about promoting his club and vintage racing. Sure the timing of this is a bit crook, as is the short lead up time but for this to work we need to support it as a movement.
Here's the bank details again...

raffle ends on 17th jan. ive bought 5.
-
In the course of trying to buy a ticket in the Diamond Don Raffle I had a yarn to Ron on the phone last night and he kind of agree'd that among other things the purchasing process may need to be made a little easier. Today I am in receipt of a hand written fax from Ron that I said I would post up on this forum.
And I quote word for word from that fax.
Col, I have sent to the QLD office of Gaming Regulation a request to extend ticket sales until Monday 17th Jan 2011and to cease at 12.00 (midnight on that date. The draw will take place at Mango House, Airlie Beach at 3.00PM Friday 21 Jan 2011. The will be notified by phone after the draw and the result will be emailed to all people on our email data base.
This time frame will allow for money transfers to be finalized within the Banking system and be processed into the draw. The draw will be a butt draw with all eligable tickets going into a large container and a person not involved with the classic movement making the draw-possibly Pam the Manageress of Mango House or someone from Tourism Whitsunday.
Mango House is involved as they have put up 3 nights accomodation in August for 2 people as part of a Whitsunday promotional package to be Raffled at Diamond Dons. This will be a reverse of the Art Union we are currently running with a trip for 2 to the Whitsunday Classic MX to be held on the 2nd weekend in August 2011.
I will release an email as soon as official sanction for the extension has been approved- Many Thanks Ron 0429451475

I just got off the phone with Ron a minute or so ago and was keen to clarify how best he would like the purchase process to happen and he said if anyone wanting to buy a ticket could deposit the money in the account (details mentioned elsewhere) in multiples of $50 with an attached mobile phone number that is the go. He tells me that the bank will take a mobile number of up to 10 digits but if for whatever reason they say they can only accept nine digits drop off the zero at the front and he will know what is missing. You will not receive a physical ticket/s but he will ring you to confirm receipt of the money and allocation of ticket/s.
Personally I reckon the promotion of this Art Union would be better served in General Discussion and if it is possible to move this and my above post into General discussion I am happy for that to happen. I have no idea how to but if you reckon you can, go for it.
Still not convinced, Ron is happy to take your calls on his mobile to fill in any gaps.
-
I've just purchased some tickets using the direct deposit numbers I posted in an earlier post. No problems at all.
-
Just spoke to Ron he's had a few hiccups, his excat words were "its like trying to run a motocross meeting in a cyclone" he asures me those of us who have ordered tickets will get a responce in the next day or two.

SUNDAYS NEWSFLASH
quote:Diamond Don’s Riverport National Motocross had the highest attendance of all 2010 AHRMA events. We had about 800 race entries with more than 1000 people through the gate. Trampas Parker was the race legend and was a great sportsman and a true gentleman. Boy is he fast! He won every race he entered but one The brakes weren’t tight enough. He is a world champ and waits until the last second to brake. We are planning on a bigger event this year, recognizing Gary Bailey as our legend. Date is set for April 15-17th. Be there or be square.

-
Anyone out there bought tix by sending an email?? ..I sent an email a couple of weeks ago ...with CC details etc..haven't heard back or no notification ..no money out of account either..??..should I do a direct deposit..??
-
I bought mine by direct deposit Brian. I've spoken to Ron a number of times with regards him getting further info to me so I can put it up here on the forum. I'm still waiting. Unfortunately Ron Single hasn't much of a clue with computers and is relying on club members for the communication and I don't think that's working too well. It's all above board but it could have been handled a
bit lot better. My only worry is of them breaking even, not anything dodgy. I think you'll get a better response from [email protected]
(http://[email protected])
-
I used email address and credit card details about two weeks ago with still have no idea whether I have a ticket or not. Rang Ron Single and he didn't recall my name being on ticket list, said we would hear before the 17th if I have ticket. I need to know now, so if I do not have ticket I can still have time to organise one. For such a addvert in VMX magazine it is poorly run, need to know you have been successful or not in purchasing a ticket.
-
Yep me too...I sent details to the gmail address and haven't heard anything back.....so I think I will bite the bullet and do a direct debit...it's a good cause and sounds like a great event if lucky enough to win..:)
-
I would do the same but do not want to end up with double tickets, I am hoping my email went through.
-
quote:Please be advised that if you have purchased tickets for the trip for 2 to Diamond Don's via Credit card, it will appear on your bank statement as Smart HR Solutions, as we are processing all payments through their eftpos machine.
Thankyou
per Ron Single
My bankcard statemant says, the tickets were drawn out on the 7th Jan 8)

I received the call from Ron yesterday afternoon on the way home from work, i nearly ran off the road when he told me i won the trip. I am really looking forward to making the trip to Diamond Don's, should be a great weekend, two classic dirts in one year ;D.
Looking forward to seeing plenty of legends. Have organized plenty Husky Central and Klub Kevlar tee shirts and stickers to hand out as well.

Ride it like you stole it Pete ;D
(if any of your bag handlers drop out I will be able to make myself available)
-
Geoff,
Looks like it will be a Husky Central representation at DD's, Ribbo is along for the ride and now Shoey has jumped on board. I have organised 3 pre 75 Huskys for the Enduro races on Friday and the pre 75 races on Saturday, we also have some bikes for the evo races on Sunday.
Ribbo and Shoey have been practicing drinking lots of Bud's and Margaritas all week to get the Texas vibe going :o :o
-
Hey Pete,
A big congratulations, couldn't go to a nicer guy.
Not sure about having Ribbo tag along. Have you told the yanks about his unique product testing ability? Make sure you say no to goin' 'top and tail' - not sure how that would go down in the Bible Belt.
Thank goodness Diane is going to keep you blokes in some kind of control, and make sure Shoey doesn't take his mirror ball.
Have a great trip, make sure you tell us all the gossip when you get back.

make sure Shoey doesn't take his mirror ball.
Whose mirror ball ::)?
-
make sure Shoey doesn't take his mirror ball.
Whose mirror ball ::)?
Noting says 'VMX' more than two grown men arguing over 'who owns the Mirror Ball'.
I suggest a 'dance off' at CD8 to determine the true owner… lycra and g-strings at 20 paces gentlemen… :D
-
We are all set to go, ;D ;D. the tickets turned up today ;),
Diamond Don's here we come.

I know you blokes will have a great time in Texas. While you're there give my regards to Bill Davis...he'll make himself known to you. He's a good bloke as the West Aussies will know from his two visits over there. Enjoy the racing and the Margaritas fellas and remember that Australias honour is at hand! Don't forget to bring back some good cocktail recipes for the CD8 Kevlar Kompound soiree!
Besides the t shirts...have you guys got some Klub Kevlar stickers printed up to pass out to the locals? I promised one to Ron Pomeroy so if he's there don't forget to give him one.
Bon Voyage Pete, Shoey and Ribbo.
-
I have bitten the bullet and have now committed to going to Diamond Don's as well... so I will be there to capture some of the mayhem that is undoubtedly going to ensue... :o
-
I just know you'll end up jamming with the band at Diamond Dons Ajay so get one of the guys in the band to teach you those Inna Gadda da Vida licks you'll need for your CD8 gig. It's rock guitar 101...on the same page as Smoke on the Water. ;D
Have a great time mate, thank f*&k that nice and sensible Husky Pete will be there to keep an eye on your combined Margarita intake!
-
Firko,
I have quite a few KK stickers as well as Husky Central ones to take with me, we will tag a few people with them.
Counting down the days (11 to go);D
Me nice and sensible ;D

The only person to save the four amigo's will be Di. ;)
She is one lucky, lucky woman!!! :D
-
As this may be the un-official scouting trip, do I feel a full "Tour" coming in 2012?
Can you imagine that prick Evil Rudy loose in the bible belt? "Nothing but steers and queers in Texas boy, and I don't see no horns".
-
Congrats, Husky Pete!
I reckon half the fun would just be flying over with Ribbo. What a hoot!
I bet there won't be many Aussies there. They will wind up thinking all Australians behave like you two.
-
Massive day for Husky Central today, Shoey, Dazza and i met up with Tom White and what a absolutely spectacular display of bikes ;D then we went and met the "Man" Malcolm Smith, we spend about a hour shooting the breeze with him, what a great guy, we have just had the BEST day of are lives and i will never forget the experience,
-
Geez Pete,
Just last week you and ribbo were talking to us commoners in a dusty dirt paddock at Dargle and now look at you two. Hangin out with dirt bike royalty.
You lucky bastards.
-
I got a phonecall from Husky Pete earlier this arvo describing his great day at Tom Whites and visiting Malcolm Smith. Even though he appeared to be somewhat pissed, I could tell by his voice that he, Shoey and Ribbo had quite a memorable day. He sent me some photos but I can't upload them because they're in an invalid format for Village Photos. I'll figure out how to convert them and put 'em up tomorrow.
-
Great to hear that the boys had a great day with Tom White and Malcolm S. Tom is undoubtedly one of the nicest guys in the Vintage scene, it would be very hard to find a more gracious host. ;D
Well, I'm off on the silver bird in 12 hours from now, to meet you blokes in Texas. See you in "Auntie Skinners"... ;)
-
Husky Pete rang this arvo from Diamond Dons with the great news that Shoey won his class in Friday's Vinduro. ;D They're all riding tomorrow in the Pre '75 part of the program.......Pete told me there were 1000 entries for the three days..........huge. 8)
The boys were getting into the post race Margaritas when Pete rang....I could hear the blender going in the background. ;D

Those photos were taken by Gary Davis, the second one is to prove that Texan beer is drinkable.... ;)
And I was supposed to be on holiday... ::)
-
I've got 3 books in the 2012 raffle if anyone is interested in buying a ticket or two......or more ;D.
-
Big draw day tomorrow for 2013 trip to Diamond Dons USA Vintage Bike Bonza ..
We've had a Peter and we've had a Paul~ good luck Mary ;) ;D
Good luck to all the book sellers and all ticket holders :P
cheers A
-
I was out most of the arvo.
Hope I didn't miss the call ;D
-
Ron Single just rang to tell me that the Diamond Dons Raffle was won by STEVE WARNES from Adelaide. The New Zealand trip part of the raffle was won by our very own DAVE TANNER.
Ron told me that the winning ticket was given as a gift to Steve by Phil Wilson of Northside Motorcycles in Mackay, NQ for Steve doing him a good turn. With Daves win, this is the third raffle in a row won by Klub Kevlar Komrades ;D
-
I was out most of the arvo.
