Well Hardex, I had to ride what I was told to ride back then.

Event 11, # 104  Mick Harraway, placed behind young Brad at Broadford this year

Event 12, # 30  Ron Dinsdale on a Hodaka, never new he rode them.

What was the deal with Juniors and sub-Juniors back then?
Am I seeing the same names from Juniors running in C grade as well?

SUBS
Sub-juniors were 14-16 years and only allowed up to 125cc.  They got two heats per meeting.
(Which is a lot more than they used to, as Under-16s were not allowed to race for decades.)
They were kids, and might show up on a TS-90 or XL-100.  It would have been a brilliant breeding
ground for talent; getting them used to rough tracks and starting gates.
Sub-Juniors plus the Bill Patterson mini-bike series was a fertile source for future champions.

When did Victoria's Subbies come in - anyone know?  (I'm guessing 1972)

Prior to sub-juniors, guys like O'Brien and the Floods all lied about
their ages, in order to race before reaching 16 (prior to sub-juniors)

JUNIORS
16 to 18 years.   No engine limit.  These kids were in prime of their lives, and a few were as
fast as the A-graders, although lacking experience.   I think they could race any class, as long
as they were fast enough to qualify.
EG:  LANDMAN would be battling the A-graders, then return to continue his battle for
the Juniors Title.  (It was down to him and PORTBURY in 1973)
