just thought I'd let you know about the mob in Brisbane who I just picked my shock up from.
I took the thing in just before Christmas, 2 weeks after the guy had moved sheds because the old industrial complex he was in burnt down. He recognised it as a YZ125F shock the second he saw it.
Anyway, picked ot up today, he's replaced the non-standard (2 piece) spring that someone had put on it with another from his parts stash, put a new bump stop on, replaced a shim that was worn, regassed it, put new oil in it, for $90.00.

The shock certainly hasn't been restored to concourse cosmetic condition, but I didn't ask for that, so I don't know if he'd do it or not.

i got a quote the other day for $15 to regas a set of twins. dont know if thats a good price put its seems cheap enough

We normally charge $5.00 per shock , not bad for 1 minutes work

oh well this place is 2 mins from me so considering the fuel costs to get to you i wouldnt be saving any money ;D

im paying $160 for a service on my prolink honda shock.....is that good or bad.... :o

For Mono shock service we charge $90.00

i think it depends on if just new seals, oil and gas go in or if it needs more parts.

with every service new oil +gas is included of course
If we break it down it means the technician will get one hour to service the unit ( which is more than plenty , if he is set up professionally ) and $15.00 will cover gas and oil.

Would you regas a shock for me for $15 walter ? i got a set of twins here one has a small plastic hose sticking out of it and the other has just the thread, they look like half decent shocks, worht reviving as spares but thought a regas was a lot more than that

thye are a set of sebacs ? i think they where on a roady, they have the gas plug in the bottom of one and some kinda bloank or bit missing on the other , but not sure if they will just regas or will need any stuff to make them work, can i test them with comp air first ? to see if they hold air ?

Thanks for the info on Rodney at RAD in Sherwood Rd here in Brisvegas. Took my Ohlins in to have the gas pressure checked and he did it on the spot for nix. He is currently relocating his workshop from the previous burned out location so is in a bit of chaos currently! Really nice bloke who knows his stuff.

The rear shock on my RG lost its rebound damping late last year so I sent it to Shock Treatment in Penrith (Sydney) for servicing. They rang to say the rod needed rechroming and the shock piston was had it and as its an odd size (44mm), they didn't have a spare to replace it with, so it would need an aftermarket solution - Gold Valve, which they would give to me at cost. The cost all up, with servicing, new oil and gas: $467 ($120 for rod rechroming). Its a lot, but I don't see it as an unfair price for what was involved (and they had very good customer liaison skills, which helps).
Then they rang me to say they'd found an old 44mm piston which they could throw in for nicks instead of going the Gold Valve route. But by then, I'd read enough about how well your shock works with a gold valve in, I said, blow the expense, let's go gold.
Now I just got to work out how to tell the missus....and 'negotiate' on what penance I got to pay for this latest indulgence at family's expense....

You could have saved a bit of money , rechrome shaft $75.00 , Seal kit $48.00 , YSS piston $75.00
and labour $100.00 , or a complet new YSS 302 R mono shock for $450.00 ;D

How does your piston valve compare with the Gold valves Walter? do they work in the same way? post some pickies of your valve.

I reckon you're on a winner Walter - affordable decent suspension is the way to go. We're not all fully-sponsored race team members....only 2% are....the rest of us put a high priority on handling/suspension (because that's what lets you go faster, not engine)...but don't have the big bucks for US stuff.
