Well its official CD8 June 10 -13 2011 Connondale ;D (as if you could seriously consider holding it anywhere else ;))
Best news ever and a great end to an otherwise ordinary year . Highlight of the year was CD7 and less than 6 months to CD 8 ;D
Counting down the sleeps , get this christmas nonsense out the way and june will be here before we know it. Expecting a big Kiwi contingent at CD 8 bring it on :D

You may as well change the name to ConnonDale 8. I thought this event was supposed to move around the country to be fair on everyone!!

Nice play on the CD theme there :) That could really catch on ;) Connondale 8 Connondale 9 Connondale 10 damm that sounds good ;D However your idea to be fair to everyone has merit :) Iv'e been to 4 CDs and Bazzas been to all of them so must be due for one in NZ soon ;)

I think you guy's will find it is the organisation that will always be the problem, at present the Sunshine coast club have done and will do a great job.
The venue like it or not has the area to hold large amounts of people and covers all three area's of riding offered (2 x motocross, enduro and trials), camping, weather is normally good and has been great events in the past.
Hard to go past?
And Bahnzy, you blokes have the HBBB and I am sure it is not about to start moving around the country is it?
Event will be big again this time im sure!
A big thanks to the boy's at VMX Mag for leaving it at Conondale, remember we can all have a small gripe about the travel but just think what Ken and boy's have to go through to organise an event 1000K from their home. Well done guy's
Now it's in the calander we can all focus on the Nationals in SA and make that a big event.
Seansons greetings to all and a save trip to any on the roads this year.

XR that would be good in ideal world.Ive been to them all from Unzud and conondale has tracks-facilitys-and club orginization. I guess also sponsor has some say putting up the money. If you want to be at the premier event then i guess some will allways have to travel, given it nearly was not back at connondale i guess it will move again.

Funny how that was neither suggested nor raised when the 1st 4 CDs were in Vic!

I concur with Bazza, like him I've been to every CD and with the exception of Raymond Terrace, I've had to travel long distances, although not as far as from Unzud. Sure it's an inconvenience and is hard on the pocket but I wouldn't miss it for quids. Conondale is by far the best venue so far and until another venue that crosses all of the ticks that Conondale does comes along, I reckon it should stay where it is. I'd still go even if it was in Papua-New Guinea. ;D
ps....I reckon it's time for TM Bill, Bazza, DJ, Suzuki 43 and every other interested Kiwi to form some sort of committee and start the ball rolling on expanding the CD concept to New Zealand. I reckon the only problem you'd encounter is deciding which island to hold it....(although I think the northern one might have a head start ;)

So shall I book you a bed at Palace Slakewell for the trip up Firko?

I’m not sure about CD1, (I thought that was on the border of VIC/NSW) but you are correct that the first group of CD’s were in Victoria, but they were nothing like CD4 and onwards. If my memory serves my correct there was no camping on-site for the CD’s up to Broadford and was a completely different event to what we get to attend nowadays. Drawing parallels between the CD and HBBB is unfair as they are different events with different drivers and objectives. Personally I can take or leave the HBBB event but CD is something special.
For most Victorians, Melbourne to Conondale & return is 3700km’s. In any mans language that 50 odd hours of bum on seat in a car, or if it sounds better to you that’s 5 days of driving. Add the 3 days (possibly 4 days) at Conondale that’s an 8/9 day commitment.
For some of the self employed guys that’s 5 days of lost income, fuel, 4 nights accommodation, meals and the list goes on and that just gets you to & from Conondale not taking into account the costs involved in being there.
Us VIC’s had it easy with some of the early venues of CD and in no way was I expecting it to come south to Victoria. I travelled to Conondale for 2009 & 2010 and would have been happy if it was in NSW or somewhere with less commitment towards funds and time, but I’ll still be trying my best to get there but it will be a stretch.
At the end of the day the Victorians represent a very small percentage of the total Classic Dirt VMX community and the organisers have to go where a guaranteed ROI & suitable infrastructure exists, and in today’s environment that is Conondale, Queensland.
Merry Christmas to all and have a great New Year, but above all please look after yourselves and be safe.

Hey Bahnsy, CD 1 (& CD 2) was held at Kyneton. and you are correct no camping till CD 4 at Broady.
i agree with the amount of commitment for a Vicco to travel north ( or a Queenslander to come south, etc) but its one of those things where you cannot please all and i don't think we have a venue in vic that i am aware of that would match conondale either, add to that mild days in banana land in winter and its hard to top. i myself will try to make it again either with or without bike depending on logistics.
i think NSW would be ideal for many if a suitable venue was found. the Conodale setting in that valley ( and the track) are hard to beat though.

Bahnsy you are right, spoke to a fellow camper up from Victoria said he was one of only a few due to days off needed, was hoping to get Mike Landerman up this year,no doubt NSW would be perfect for travell but the venue would need to hold hundreds more.
