Not valid Firko, when your Nats entry comes in your VMX247 Comp vote will be accepted. This raises another thing for forum members to ponder upon. Will firko ride the Nats after all the practice he will get at HBBB?
-
it would be in the hundreds, and does steve posting combine with ali or is it separted ?
-
Will firko ride the Nats after all the practice he will get at HBBB?
In a nutshell.....Nope. I'll never say never but at the moment my war injuries prevent any serious riding. I'd just be a mobile chicane. ;D Once I've had all of my repairs done, who knows. I'm looking forward to cutting some laps at Broardford on the new bikes though and also looking forward to doing some laps on the 490 Maico and new IT250 at Slakewells at the end of the month.
-
Cmon Firko, a mobile chicane would save us prepping the dogleg and add to the excitement.
All rudeness aside we hope you'll come up, and do some commentry, rider interviews etc.
-
I'll most certainly be there Col and if my new flat tracker turns out OK and looks to be reasonably competitive after dial ins at Broadford and if my guest rider can pull off a trip to the Nats, it'll be there with me.
It'll be my peasure to do some commentary, interviews or whatever you need mate ;).
-
Col, without putting more on your plate, I think it may be time for a DVD to capture the whole experience inc - Interviews with past Legends and present top classic competitors, current bikes, riders and even a photo call of every bike/rider.
I know it is a big ask, something to think about.
Maybe we can do it at the titles at Nepean next year :P

Unfortunately I am not in a position to be able to partake in this excitement but---
What no pre '70???
cheers pancho
-
Hey Pancho, check it out--event 23 & 24 "Pre70 up to 250" & "Pre70 263+".
Hey Cisco, tell Pancho he's got to come [to the Nats that is]
-
Yes the DVD is a great idea & do-able.I'll see what can be done.
-
Thanks Col for reminding me about my appointment with my eye specialist!
cheers
-
Col, is the event schedule set in stone?
I see a couple of times where similar events are very close together.
Eg, Pre 85 over 250 and evo over 250, or the sidecars, I know they're boneheads from a different planet but each class may suffer if they can't ride up. ;D ;D ;D
Hey Wal, you're forgiven, it is out of numerical order, I'll have room for your bike in my trailer, think about it.
-
Final race makeup and race order will be decided when entry becomes clearer, so no need to sweat it at this stage.
-
Gee you blokes carry on just enter the event & make it happen for the sport. We spent months enticing riders to come to our Griffith Titles & we think they all had a ball . Lets let QLD have the same support with out the procrastination.
See you there ???
-
Gee Dave, the official entry form only became available today, as you said, you guy's spent months building interest and the whole event was a testament to your club.
Just general discussion to help make this event as good or dare I say, better.
Just because the Dragons are world champs, don't get too cocky.
-
We have our first entry, he's old, he's crusty but he's quicker than the lot of you.
get your entries in ASAP will make my job a lot easier than a last minute panic
PS Prefer cheques or money orders for payment
-
GOOD $#17!! wish I was goin

Hi Col, Just wanted to know is it total posts on the titles or total posts to all of the vmx forums. Waying up whether I have enough brain power to calculate the latter. Gee, grassy chill out - maybe you need a holiday to daydream island!!!! ( Logged in under the hubby ) The Jack Daniels Girl!!!!! ;)
-
Total posts on OZVMX forum as listed on index.Running at 8 per day at the moment.Handicap is loaded to favour early entries. You may not beat Grasy on the track, but this gives everyone a chance.
-
Don't say things like that Col, he'll get an even bigger head ;D :P :-*
-
Hi Col,
Sent entry off today with self addressed envelope & chq 4 classes 3 bikes . Looking forward to the event, hope you get the support your club deserves to host the Titles. PS that IS ANOTHER POST. ;D . Did you receive the parcel I sent to you ?
-
Hey Geebob,
just spent a week at Arylie Beach what a place to relax . Now back & refreshed
-
We have our second entry -
-
Last years sup reg's made reference to extra classes that you could ride" up" in( ie pre78 into evo)
is there an allowance for this this year
Cheers
Noel
-
"We have our second entry", that makes it an event.
You only need 2 for a race.
Still early days, I'm sure it'll be a ripper.
-
i know this is a stupid question but can i enter now, but then nominate the classes before the entires close ?
that way i get good odds on the Posting question ;)and still time to sort out some rides.
-
I don't think it's a stupid question, just demonstrates the ability to hatch a cunning plan.Bear in mind I can be bought.
Put in your race entry, with $150, nominate your VMX247 post number, and sort out classes and balance of payment later[before 10th June]
-
is that for the first class ? and then fix you up for any other class rides i can score before 10 th june ? if that cool im onto it Col.
Robin - are we still on ?
-
Entries still slow ???
-
freaky still on, pm all your details including lic no
-
PM sent.
susing Hair fares as we speak...
-
freakshow check out tiger airways ,got our flights $120.00 return, our mech got his for $1.00 there and $60.00 return.
-
YEr but im worried they dont always fly ? like you turn up at the airport and they decided not enought seats sold and they dont run the flight ? After all the costs the flights the cheapist part, and it would do my head in to be standing at the airport on Sat morning still scratching my head and the gate drops..................
but ill check it out anyway ( maybe return is worht the risk. )
-
entry filled out, chq signed , passenger organised,on the way to post office.
get your entries in will make life easier for the organisers
-
Posted mine off today, even signed in the passenger section as well so all bases covered.
Vandy you going ? or do you have a pre 70 ride for ol 'freaky if i send up a rear tyre ?
-
just hit 5 entries folks.
-
just hit 5 entries folks.
No need to panic Dave. Vintage punters are notoriously slow getting their entries in. I can remember drumming it up on this forum and doing ring arounds for the last half a dozen Nats, both DT and MX, when the entry list looked crook. In the end it all worked out in the positive. You've got a couple of months yet so hang loose matey, it'll happen.
-
Im with you Mark but the pressure is on me being the assistant Race Sec and machinery; Col and I are putting a lot into this event and I really want it to work.
-
Dave i didnt go to Coffs as it was not a place i could get to, but if that had enought numbers to run, i assume those riders were that side of the map, so they should be OK for Brissy. can you get the participant race/contact list off that race sec and then email them. Somtimes unless peeple see it, they forget to search it out.
-
this offer is to help out anyone wanting to ride at the titles or someone wanting cheaper tyres
michelin trials tyres are normally 190 rec retail,i can do them for 155.00 -i have to buy in batches of 10 to get a better price, will need tyres paid for up front,if you are in brisbane come and pick them up from my shop if interstate i can bring out to the track or if you are here early come to the shop and can fit them for free -you have the wheel of the bike i need some feedback for numbers we will need so i can get this underway robin 07 3821 6777
-
Robin, what can you do the 19in speedway tyres for? I think they are now 375x19.
Mike
-
can do mitas sw07 for 159.00 need a volume order ie 10 to get better price thanks robin
-
I guess just the one inquiry from me at this stage, Robin. I'll give you a ring when I get back from the UK.
Cheers, Mike
-
MIke i have used ones and some with a one good edge if that helps you out.
-
Just wondering how entries are going with only 5 entries & 8 weeks till entries close , hope things improve as it makes it hard for a club to run the circus without the clowns.
Griffith spent alot of time to premote last years titles(pre entry flyers,VMX mag ect) hope Brisbane get some support.
-
So Dave have the entry numbers for Classic Dirt Track Titles started to ramp up yet.
-
No additions this week Im sad to have to advise.
Note: unlike others we will NOT take late entries - period. I have a full time job and its a huge undertaking to organise this and if you dont enter on time you will not ride.
The NBJMCC has really gone out on a limb for us to stage this event at this venue, its a great track, fast and nice to ride please start o send your entries now if you are coming we will not be banking any cheques until June if that helps.
Tanner
-
just booked the flights, its on................
-
Are you heading up for the Swingers party as well Freaky?
-
Freaky a swinger! :o
-
A reference to Sidecar Swingers.
I thought I saw he put his hand up to be a monkey for the weekend.
-
YEp hanging on for shoreline. :P
Hopefully the KX slider is up and runnign by then, and if i can pull one or 2 more rides/ bikes id be stokked. I send up 2 tires today in hope something turns up ..... :-\
wish Brissy was a bit closer id pack the van up with some bikes and be in heaven up there ... just cant take a week off work. :'(
-
Had a peek on the google earth and a spy in Brissie, the track looks first rate fellows, can't wait to get there. A tip for any motorcross blokes who want to have a go with a bunch of dirt track cowboys, this the place to do it. Granite based tracks are sooo forgiving and the track in Brisbane isn't super fast so its very easy on ya bike and impossible to hurt yourself, so have go .See Ya there.
-
Impossible? ??? ?
-
ssssssshhhhhh,tip,land on yer bum ;D, :P
-
52 deco is not marshmallow
it hurts when you hit it
-
I did that last time at Nepean Mick, I'd still rather not, the bruise took ages to fade.
Were you attempting to test that theory when you did your leg?
How is it by the way?
-
just sent in noms for 5 classes!! cant wait! excellent venue! can never get a good concrete start! got a few things to try this time!! come on everyone nominate!!
-
just had a look at 2010 titles on you tube and just letting others that dont know that brisbane has no right hand turns. also its not as big/long/hard as action park. top track though.
-
CORRECTION---The track includes a RIGHT HAND CORNER. As explained in a previous post, the Nudgee complex has multiple layouts, including normal DIRT TRACK with dogleg. It also has a long track, a speedway oval, and alternative dirt track circuit, all inthe one area. Adjacent is the Brisbane Club's MX track, and a supermoto track under construction.
-
The clock's running down really fast--only four weeks to close of entries [10th June]. We'll accept completed & paid entries at CD8 [Dave Tanner & Col Metcher will have forms], but at the end of the day Sunday 12th that's it.
If we can help with information, posting hard copy of entry, accommodation,
supply of trials tyres, local info etc, please just ask. Col Metcher [email protected] .au or Dave Tanner [eligibility & rules] [email protected]
-
thanks for the correction. right hand corner should be great!
-
Listen Freaky stop hijacking this thread with your 2 valve thread - its no good to you as your not riding it at the nationals. ;D
-
where ?? no 2 vavly in here
Although Infact, if i can find a grass track jawa frame, id pop out my speedway motor and id be sending that bike up there for sure.
I got a stiffy everytime that venom viper or whatever evan rides, with the 2 vavle in it, covered me in shit everytime he hauled past me in at the Dt nats.

Nice Shots. Pete Lee #52 left today in his motorhome with bikes in tow . Heading north for titles then of to the USA on the 2nd July for vintage champs at Ohio.
-
Jeezas, I didn't think Griffith was that far south, does that mean he'll get a months practice in?
How far behind him will his shadow ( no6 ) be? ;D :P ;D
-
it takes him a month to drive there ?
or is he pushing that honda up there
-
Hey Dave,
Is Pete going to mid Ohio? I've been there three times and was thinking about going this year,
Pete.
-
peter
i dont think he is riding mid ohio motorcycle days but more the ama national mile tracks.i will be in the usa in june mid ohio is early july i am sure 52 is racing at the nationals then going home packing and flying to texas to prepare for his racing.cant see him getting there by the 9th july
jim
-
Thanks Jim. I'll probably still go to mid Ohio. It's a great weekend with something for everybody. What are you going over for?
-
no entries this week yet folks :( :( :(
-
So Dave are you getting a few entrys from Qld. Apart from yourself and maybe a couple of others Queenslanders do not seem to travel that well when it comes to Dirt Track. That said, I kinda thought you might get a bit of support from the locals for what will surley be a rip snorter.
-
Entry sent, in the process of organising a one event licence.
I know I'm slack but I'll get there.
-
Hi Pete (yamacio) Pete#52 is riding 2 events one being at Ashland Ohio 22nd to 26th July AMA bike week. Might be heading over myself for a look to get a look in for next year.
Cheers Grasy

Geez talk about "livin the dream"...I cant wait till I'm all growd up ;D
cheers A
-
Thanks for the reply Dave. I've raced over there a bunch of times and it's great. The people cannot do enough for you. I've only ridden MX and TT's over there but I'd love to have a crack at a half mile or mile. I've been to a few GNC flat track meetings there and they have been awesome. You and Pete will have a ball,
Pete.
-
IF Anyone got a pre 70 or pre 65 bike i can run ? ill send a rear tyre up and do another class, actually ill ride anything in any class.....well except.....
-
Your a slut Kerry. ;D....would you like to ride a 69 CeeZee 360?.....I havent got one, but I thought you might like to ride one. ;D....what about a KR TZ750 flat tracker?.....XR750 maybe....
-
Tate, What about you lending me the YZ 125 or 250 ???? i have a trails tyre at robins ready to be fitted ???
and yes im serious.
-
The entries are about the same as Griffith was 6 weeks out from race day, which is encouraging. Wedo ask that you get your entries in asap, both to help in the planning & to ensure you don't miss out. The 20+ late entries for Griffith, will be disappointed if they rely on us to accommodate them for this event.
If you are unsure which bikes you'll have ready, enter your wish list and if you have to leave one behind or change things, we'll make the adjustments.
Also, to ease the money burden, we won't present cheques until early June.
-
Kerry, more to the point - I have a box full of parts - no wheels - mudguards that don't fit - and a seat ( if you can call it that ) no exhuast pipe - no air box - and you want to ride it in 5 weeks ::) ::) ::)
-
I've just emerged from hibernation in the shed for the whole weekend.
Engine reassembled and swap nearly complete.
I've been over run at work and decided to bite the bullet and get it done before the panic sets in.
Not long to go now and I hope entries have gathered momentum.
C'mon gents lets ramp up the enthusiasm and interest.
-

TAke the pedal off stew id dont want to break you. I dont think that Budabillbong will be run, not on the same weekend as a Aussie title event in the same era, so there must be someone on here with a spare ride then. HEy stewy, i have a tyre why dont you enter the DT on something ? Youll love it.......
-
Hi Gents,
Griffith have 7 riders doing the trip to what should be an awesome meeting . Have a sidecar crew ready to go if there are sufficient entries.
-
hows the entries looking now guys
-
Hi Gents,
Griffith have 7 riders doing the trip to what should be an awesome meeting . Have a sidecar crew ready to go if there are sufficient entries.
bring the slidecar we will have enough for a class, been on the ph harrassing people to put their entries in
-
Entries close in two & a half weeks. As Griffith's success provided a benchmark we obviously compare with them, and at the same time out from the event we are slightly ahead on entry numbers.
We greatly appreciate the enthusiasm of Grasy & others who are helping to drive the entries.
At this point responce from Qld riders is disappointing, but I'm sure this will change.
One thing that may affect final numbers is that our "no late entries" policy may catch a few out[ Griffith had over 20 late entries].
-
go Ray Burrows, one for the Queenslanders!
Oh, just let me clarify that I do not endorse Queenslanders as such - Im a Blue living in hope that we can but their buns tonight - Its just Ray, as a person from Queensland has entered.
211
-
Col, I'm wondering how many of the Queensland *vintage motocross stalwarts have entered? For a state that can raise record numbers at CD and the Conondale Nats, surely we could expect similar support from the motocross guys. If you blokes haven't tried dirt track before, this might be the perfect opportunity to find out how competitive and how much fun the sport is. I mean, it's not as if you need to buy a new bike....all you need is a decent trials tyre and you're up and ready to go.
Dirt track is an important part of our overall movement and while I can understand that for many dirt trackers, the complexities of motocross are out of their comfort zone, I've never really understood why so many MXers don't bother with dirt track, especially considering that their particular skill levels fit right in.
*Ditto NSW racers.
-
And its a shit load easirt on your body firko too...... how hard is turn left, turn left ver right turn left..... enve n collingwood supporters can figure that out.... just
-
dirt track is fun and easy on the body, except when you make a wrong turn and find something on the infield a flip a sidecar over ;D.as a i have said before anyone wanting tyres ,i will look after on price for the titles
-
FRee fitting too.
-
dirt track is fun and easy on the body, except when you make a wrong turn and find something on the infield a flip a sidecar over ;D
hijack...but what are the odds ?? We watched it at HBBB and are convinced its shits loads easier on the old body 8)
cheers us
-
it is a shitload easier on the body, manage to ride the outfit and a solo in the same day!and not be weary afterwards
-
Yeah but you hardly work up a thirst-it's only for really old guys(or those old at heart) :D :D :D
-
Cheeky Bastard ;D
-
Hi Guys
had a big surge in entries this week but we still need some more to make the meeting as good as it can be. Things are looking really hot in the pre 75 750 classes and the old buggers classes - where are the young guys, there are 2 or 3 - 20 somethings then the rest are all 40 plus; did we skip a generation or something??
211
-
I'm pleased to advise that SHANNONS have come on board as naming sponsor,so the event is now the "SHANNONS AUSTRALIAN CLASSIC DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP"
-
Yeah but you hardly work up a thirst-it's only for really old guys(or those old at heart) :D :D :D
:D :D :D i dont recall ;D having get oxygen at a race meeting
-
Lung diseases aside.
and that oxygen was after a win too.
Shoulda seen us at the spectacular-rode everything that would let us near it.
My advice to you would be to get a better navigator or stick to following the leader :D :D :D
-
great i can blame jamie :D :D
-
Great numbers of entries this week guys, meeting is looking good but to plug the old Crusty Col line we close on the close and no late entries means just that; you will be dissapointed.
So you know why, Col and I are race sec the meeting to the 14th and then handing over the complete race programe to the club to take over and run the meeting. They have the Junior Nats the very next weekend so we have to be on the game here. ;D ;D
-
Just over a week to close of entries. Total riders entered as at today-50. We are lacking in 125s and younger age classes.
Exciting news-we have a genuine '74 XR750 flat-tracker entering.
Matcho Mick is competing
EML has entered early
-
but will steve new enter on time or arrive at the track before the lunch break?
-
official sytart time is when steve gets there ;D
-
Am trying to line up a 125 but running out of time.
Question?
I have asked a few people about running 19" front wheel and k180's on deco, what's the consensus? I just wanna have fun and be safe as not expected to be at the pointy end, but don't wanna be nursing it around like a poonce either.
-
anything works just dont tip it in.
-
We have a meeting kids, entries have been good this week and the racing should be a really high standard.
Keep 'em rolling in
-
For the statistically minded---percentage of entries by state:-
NSW 61% Qld 29% Vict 6% SA 2% Tas 2%
Special Award The Steve New Award for last entry accepted TBA at presentation.
Special Welcolme Doug Aichison who at 2000 CMX Nats vowed "I'll never ride another Nats" after
getting a bum call, has entered 3 bikes in 4 classes.
Mike Crawley for entering a Pre 60 Villiers 200cc--definitely in the spirit of things.
The VMX247 comp. need more entries. Maybe it has been conceded that Cheapracer is more prolific.
Special thanks to the Tassie & SA enties, we know the effort it takes to travel so far.
-
Go the Blues.
-
I'm pretty sure the QLD entries will go up significantly at CD.
-
`is there any entries in the pre 78 125s and pre 78 250s, are they a championship class, or not enough entries
-
What are the chances of a mud map to find the joint?
I've just about put all my prep's to bed, can't wait.
Who is staying at the track and more importantly who will be there on the Sunday night? ( party night )
-
The Griff Mafios will be there Fri,Sat,Sun
-
Sounds good Dave, Les Burdus is coming up as well.
By Monday morning you'll be sick of me, or visa versa.
-
how are the numbers for the evo and pre 85 classes going
-
Shit Super, if you had have told me there was an award, I would have held off to the last......
-
Good work Col, it will be a great meet, my GPS did not find the exit of the freeway (not updated I spose). Maybe someone could notify the exit we should take, to get to the track. See you there.
-
Maybe someone could notify the exit we should take, to get to the track.
If travelling north on M1 its left onto Southern Cross Way
then travel north about 5 km
and then left into Toombul Road
first right into Nudgee Road
then right onto Rauber Rd with the track at the back of the offices/LIA area.
The old Nudgee rd basically runs parelell with Southern Cross Way
http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&tab=wl
-
we have a championship sidecar event; that should tell you how the entries are going. We are looking to have the biggest event on the CDT side of the sport since the 90s

Postal and on-line entries close Friday 10th as advertised, no extensions, however we'll accept entries at CD8 providing filled out and with correct money. It would help if you provide the entry form with stamped return envelope [we'll have a few forms available]. Look for Colin, bike 50 or David, bike 211.
-
Yaba-daba-doo we have a Pre60 Championship class.
-
Really is fanntatsic news to here the entries have reached 80 odd mark...enjoy this Classic Aussie event - History in the making ;D :P
-
just getting the programe together now and the entry will exceed 100
-
Well done fellows, Great to see the Classic scene is alive a breathing. Looking forward to the event.
-
Thanks to all the encouragement from Grasy and others, and to all those who entered on time. We're getting some flack from a few trying to enter late [unsuccessfully] and wonder what part of "no late entries" is so difficult to understand.
Looking forward to renewing old aquaintances and meeting new ones at the Nats.
-
great news, i am looking forward to the event, cant wait
-
Great news, sounds like it'll be a ripper.
You guy's couldn't have made the late entry point any clearer.
Yeeehaah, bring it on.
-
great news, but when do we find out the championship classes?
-
Final count--108 entries. Some clases/age groups combined to make championship numbers, but several classes need two heats. Working on it now,and will clarify asap.
-
Please tell us its bright sunny days in QLD because NSW is getting hammered and not in the football sense ::)
-
So who won the bloody prelim comp ? what was the final VMX247 Count or does it run till the day of racing ?
-
VMX247 Comp closed Friday--but you'll have to wait 'till presentation to find out. Admit it, you are hoping Allison will be here to present it.
Twenty "Championship" classes incl Pre60, Pre65, and two sidecar classes. Final instructions and passes being sent out to those who sent return envelopes.
-
Col,any chance of riderlist with race numbers (for benefit of those who e mailed entry ;)), :P
-
Glad to hear the Leg is repaired Mick, looking forward to a couple of bevvy's around the fire.
State of O just finished, look out banana benders, we're coming to get ya.

-
Don't worry Mick, you can fight em off while I run for help.
Wally, Ian had been leaning and shutting the gate on Carl for the 10 laps prior to that and Carl had had enough.
-
Hey Steve,
I think #710 is Kevin Patton on a Kerr Bultaco. I have that same bike in my shed, awaiting restoration.
Pete.
-
Final instructions going out today. There'll not be a rider list, but we'll contact anyone who has a conflict of numbers or any other problem. So, if you don't hear from us it means it's o.k.

Super Senior 50, Allan Warren and Ron Draper wondering if they are on the entry list before making trip down from Prossy. Ran into son in law at Moto Triumph in Moss St while picking up some tyres. Said I'd enquire. One of them is also wondering if he brings another class of bike down as well as his entered one can he get a start with it.
-
Final stats---108 entries, no late entries were accepted, 20 championship classes, % of entry, NSW 49% Qld 45% Vict 2% ACT 2%
SA 1% WA 0 NT 0 Tas 0
All handed over to NBJMCC , Dave & I are just riders now.
Look forward to seeing you all, and hope our current glorious weather holds.
-
Boy did I just dodge a bullet.
Doing some jetting runs up and down the street where my factory is in Enfield and got caught by the Police.
I'm a lucky boy, I was straight up with them, they were only General Duty boys and the senior officer was into drag bikes.
Unregistered, uninsured, no licence on me and no helmet, could've been near $2,000 in fines.
Most Cop's are good fella's and that would've ruined my trip north.
See you all there, and no speeding on way. :P
-
Got my "Final Instructions" today. Haven't raced dirt track for years. I have body armour which I use for VMX, but what is the Back Protector which has to be inspected? If I haven't got one, how much does it cost? I assume it is mandatory.
Mike
-
Rule18.1.2.4. applies. In my understanding those combination suits mounted on mesh which include a back protector from top to base of spine are ok. If you have the typical body armour, without the long back section, you'll need a separate protector. Contact Mat Kuhn at Shark Leathers who have low cost protectors 0755735118 or [email protected] & tell them I sent you. If you decide to buy I can collect it for you. They are just off the motorway a few k North of the Gold Coast
-
Mike if you dont want to shelve out the coin to get one you can use mine while im not riding if we can organise it, lm on the sidecars'number 46 come and find me if you need, lm 70kgs and about 173cm, just ask for popeye.....................
-
will have a spare with me as well if needed by someone
211
-
can I just add one more thing; if it hasnt got a muffler fit one now, you will not get past machinery without one; If you have one at Machinery and it vanishes some time thru the meeting while your out on the track you will be asked to pack up and go home.
-
whats the go with 2 laps of practice?? drive 15hours and have 2 laps 2 set ya bike up, that sounds good for our sport, and our interstate competitors who dont know the place, our gearing and jetting
-
Elsie-it's a ride around in a circle-can't be too hard to set up for-let's not get too serious......
-
theres a lot more serious ones than me EML, costs a few bob to enter, get there, motel, rebuild engines, time off work, we come 2 support these events, we should have a better practice session than a club day practice
-
Try the VMX nationals matey, 3x 10min races over 3 days with the same practise and it's only 2000ks one way.
Anyway-it's not about the win is it-you just want to come and see us :D
-
It's "let's get our knickers in a knot on the forum" time again. An enquiry to the right source would have got an answer much quicker. The plan is an out lap [sighting], two laps, then slow down/exit lap. This can be repeated within the 20min. block for the relevant era bike.
-
Hey Elsie, this EML fella seems to think Dirt Track is a sinch, which means he should clean up.
He's a Sidecarist so that explains a fair bit ;) :D ;D
Don't worry by the time the Finals come around you'll have the place pegged.
-
At least at the dirty track I can get in front of Popeye-for a little while-on the left handers-when we are going sideways :D :D :D
I'll be happy to just get some laps in-it's been a very lean couple of years for us since he built the big engine. It's fffffast though....
-
It will be all good, one more nite in the shed to go, before our road trip
-
Hi Pat, Can you bring along the 15th front sprocket I lent you last year.
-
no worries grassy, think it was a 13tooth, I dont have any 15t fronts
-
Don't worry Pat, Dave's dislexic, he won't know the difference. :D
-

211 - Im off to do the machinery inspections now so watch out.

ANYONE GOT ANY INFO OR RESULTS.
Here here !! I hope the ones who travelled the furtherst won all the podiums ;D makes the journey all the better 8)
cheers A
-
Run & Won without any major injury.
Can't relay all the results but the usual suspects, Peter Lee, Ray Stevens & Glen Evans won a couple each.
Sydney boy, Justin Burdus won the Evo 250 in a great scrap with Grant Dodd, even though he was entered in the pre 78 250 but was protested against at scrutineering because his RM had 78 forks.
At the end of the day they did him a favour, better than being protested against after the event.
The meeting was run on a points score only with no final.
All in all it was a great event.
Oh yeah, personally I rode like an old mole on Sat morn but pulled my finger out the meeting wore on.
Many thanks to Col & everyone involved.
Cheers, Steve
-
Only result worth knowing is that the EML Norton MOTOCROSS outfit, owned by Nick Higgs and raced by Jamie McMurdo and Wayne Hollaway (Qld) beat all comers (Dirt Track Kneelers) to win in a great display of sidecar control and expert passengering.
Very well done guys!!!!
-
I don't normally post on here .... but I can't bring myself to leave that one alone. Some of the "tactics" used by that combination were, in my opinion, highly questionable and bordering on outright dangerous. Hope they enjoy there new sheepstation.
-
Interesting, as they guy they beat was 1st to congratualre them "for some fantastic racing" "best he's had in 20 yrs" His words, not mine!!
(mind you he did mention that it was his 1st race in 18yrs) :D :D
-
hangin around the start line on the saturday i overheard a conversation between some of the flat track regulars and they just couldn't believe that the flat track sidecar boys were being beat by a motocross outfit.
they sounded quite impressed.
anyway,
here a few shots from the start on the saturday.
excellent meeting! :)

What a fantastic weekend :) dirt track really is exciting to watch, couldn't believe the speed in the corners what a trip! Only two female riders both from Qld 16yr old Guilia Hughes, and my idol Lisa Fox, on side cars another Queenslander, Tanya Britton. Sat pics are up on the website, and I'm doing Sunday's now.
Keep Smiling :)

-

Jackie
-
Wombat........... they the ones that eat roots and leaves or am i thinking of another school yard joke.
-
I would like to thank all the people behind the scenes who got the Aussie Dirt track titles off the ground, considering i remember a time when the talk was no Club wanted to do it in 2011 !! So Regardless of how well or how badly anyone rates these events on a personal level, we all must appriciate the fact that they have put in the yards to give us a chance to ride the event at all. So thanks Col and Tanner for getting this thing to the start gate.
For the record I had a great time. Pocket is much much lighter ( probally over $20 a lap) but worth it. great track too.
Got to meet some of the Brisbane Forum people over the weekend so was good to see some faces, good to catch up with some old ones like the Brisbane mafia - Brad,Tatey,Doggee, the griffith mafia - grasy and pete lee, sydney siders, turtle ( some strong hole shots all weekend), matcho mick and crew, heck i spent all weekend saying hi to someone. even the trolley boys popoye and co, good to say hi finally.
My sincerest thanks must go to Robin for picking me up from the airport and giving me a ride on the sidecar for the weekend and a great laugh hanging on it was too.
Stewy"old fart' lemon for letting me stay over at his place for a few nights and even making his lovely wife get up on her day off and take me to the freeway to meet dave at 6 am.
Dave Tanner for letting me punt around his little TM125 all weeekend and even bringin the gas. she finished every race so you couldnt ask for more. Also for giving me a lift to the track each and everyday ( and yes i survived his high speed 'Skillmiester'driving) and the airport carpark
So a big thank you to all that help me keep livin' the dream.
But my last thank you is to Alison for being such a consistant poster. I was lucky enough to win the "vmx247" entry with the post guess ( i was in early so i reckon my handicap would have been good) i think i picked around 650+ posts in the entries open period, man can she post............ anyway thank you to whoever organised the prizes and for roger for drawing it, i sat it on my lap all the way home on the plane - i just love it to bits. Love the colour, everything. His detail and bike knowledge is great, but the steel shoe just cracks me up , its great . So a big thank you and know its greatly appreiciated.
Im sure i have missed people and to those i say thanks too. Looking forward to seeing some of you in Sept for the Big one, and to the others at the DT in 2012 !

Shit Freaky I didn't even catch up with you. Well I didn't even know it was you until sunday and then when we had bike troubles I was absorbed in that.
Good to put a face to the Tag and good save over the back when Robin had a go at getting rid of you....or was it the other way 'round :D :D
-
Shame about that, saw you where dealing with issues.
Pity as you guys were on fire when it was running well, perfect lines onto the main straight, you were in with a chance to give it a nudge at the top.... always next time :)
-
Not so sure about that at my age... :D :D
-
just like to add a few words on here about the weekend i had a ball all weekend and would like to thank all the people for putting on a great race meeting only my secoond time at racing dirt track and my passenger on the great looking #993 WASP dave it was his first outing on the chair at flat tracking. We are never going to win a race but just crossing the line is a win to me. thanks to EML for letting us race his great machine. well done to all the place getters and to jamie and wayne for some fantastic racing and a well deserved win in both classes. LETS ALL DO IT AGAIN SOON... see you at the track :) :) :)
-
Careful there Lama, dirt track is only practise for the real stuff (mx & road race) and pretty casual though with all those races one after another it did get a bit intense (NO ... NOT camping out in tents) Just use the experience to build on you next motocross at the Conondale Classic.
-
- i just love it to bits.
Knew you'd like it ;D kind of reminds me of this pic below !! ;) Thanks to Roger Harvey for doing it on a fine time line :P cheers A

Anyone who doesn't buy a photo from Jackie is a bum [to paraphrase Bob Hawke after Aust won the America's cup in 1983]
-
well i'd like to say i had fun,but i didn't,after faceplanting on ossa in it's 2nd race,(tried to save the loose with my elbow ::)),parked it,put skinnier front on the XL sat nite to help with the mind games,(didn't help)so rode like a gumby for the day, definately a sliders track, coming out of the last corner next to start gate was a bloody lottery for me,till i back it off, apart from that was pretty good meeting i guess, lots of new friendly faces, weather was perfect ,t shirt & shorts, congrats to all the winners, :P
ps didn't need the van heater till i got closer to home ::)
-
what a great weekend, great racing in alll our classes with grant jr and ray performing so well.now looking foward to next year.
-
Is there a link to the results page avaliable yet ?
cheers A
-
The full results are up on the MA website.
I want to put in the one and only complaint about the meeting.
How come there was no over 50's class included in both the Pre 85 Open & EVO Open?
Looks like I would've won em both, quite a few didn't finish the event but that's not the point.
;D :P
-
MA website has results and a section in the "news", although a couple of errors need correction [number 88-guess who- had his bike number scored as race points in first race and awarded the 50-59 125cc championship] This has been noted.
Considering 175 races were run plus practice, with 20 championship classes and support classes scored within them, it was a great effort by the scoring team.
-
Slides, check the MOMS, there are no age classes for Evo & Pre85. One of the paragraphs in my submission last year to Split the Classic MX Nats was advocating age groups for Evo.It seems this will go through for 2012 [whether the DT Nats gets strong enough to be split is debateable, but it's trending in the right direction]
-
Is there a link to the results page avaliable yet ?cheers A

CAN I HAVE SOME FEEDBACK
ON TRACK CONDITION
WAYNE IS VERY KEEN TO KNOW
ALL COMMENTS PLEASE
GOOD OR BAD
THANKS ALLAN
-
As good as it gets - Wayne and the crew did a great job; no dust. Absolute credit to the club both from the presentation of the track (amoungst the best you will ever see) and the track to ride on.
Good luck this weekend
For those who dont know the BJMCC is running the Australian Jnr Longtrack this weekend - how many clubs could run to Nationals back to back, absolute credit to the club, its workers, a can do attitude and the legacy of guys like Glen Fien.
Congrats for a job well done.
Dave Tanner

Motorcycling Australia & CDT/VMX Commission
-
How do you get your race number as your points scored?
Adam (993) wants to know for future events :D :D :D
MA site also boasts 4 riders that won 2 classes over the weekend but so did Jamie & Wayne on the Norton EML-selective reporting again? (sidecars-what sidecars??)
-
what about ray stevens three
-
pretty good for a blind bloke ;D

CAN I HAVE SOME FEEDBACK
ON TRACK CONDITION

THANKS ALLAN
99% of the track was perfect. only spot was the turn into the esses had a big bump and a hole, and ggot a bit chopped up in there During the day. But the course proper was perfect. not to much water too which was good. On the long track for the weeekend they wont see that dog leg issue.
-
Interesting to see what the solo guys say, but there was a 'berm' formed just on the entry to the main straight that almost caught a few out (might even have got a couple from some photos that I've seen).
We hit it on the last lap of our last race which we won-it nearly pitched me out of the chair and stretched my right arm, back and neck muscles along with my right leg quad. We were full noise sideways at the time and shit it bit hard.
-
Thanks to Col & Dave for getting to show on the road. I think we all had a great time at the track in field & off field.Bring on next year. We have all try to get to the Neapean Charity event 30/31st July.
Thanks again North Brisbane Junior motor Cycle club for the hospitaltiy.Mick the caretaker was a gem.
-
Was that you EML, I saw that and it was as close as you can get to the passenger being launched, the crowd would have loved it, throttle control saved your arse I reckon.
-
all you northerners are so lucky ,having dirt track meetings all the time.us mexicans are lucky to get one a year.all your tracks are mint.
well done brisy, track was outstanding .a pleasure to race on ;D
-
As the rider on the 46 sidecar l must say that the track was fantastic and the club put on a great event, Col and Dave done a brilliant job also, the track was great pitty our bike did'nt run great all bar one race but it is getting closer and yes lucky EML has the reflexes of a cat other wise he would have been thrown out the front a couple of times, anyway great fun and we will be back to play for sure...........
-
As mentioned, formal results on MA website however we had a "mini presentation" straight after racing. Results as follows [I was only judge so no discussion was entered into.]
"First entry" Col Moody crystal tankard.
"Last entry" Mike Esplund Horses arse trophy
"Oldest rider" Don Newell gnarly walking stick
"Youngest" Julia Hughes trophy & fluffy doll
"VMX247 Award" [est. Ali's posts] Kerry Marsh caracature of Freakshow on his slider by Roger Harvey
"Wonder Woman" Lisa Fox goblet sec QVMX,motherof four, just had big op. races 250 CZ
"Hero of the meeting" Mark Brokenshire rode glorious sounding XR750 Harley mega HP & no front brake
"Spirit of Vintage" Mike Crawley engraved mantle clock rode 1955 200cc 3-speed HJH [only make manufactured in Wales] in Pre60 & Pre65
-
these other trophyies where the highlight i reckon and give out a true VMX spirit for today racing.
-
anyone waiting for a entry refund after being charged twice
-
LAST WEEKS COMITTEE MEETING
DISCUSSED SOMEONE PAYING DOUBLE
ALSO ANOTHER SENT A RUBBER CHEQUE
BOTH MATTERS SHOULD BE RESOLVED SOON
-
Sounds like it evened out ok ;D
-
Just got this from 52 , pete asked me to post this great shot and caption for him
(http://i854.photobucket.com/albums/ab106/JAP454/PeterandDionProwse.jpg)
Number 130, Dion Prowse, BSA Gold Star. Somebodies got to mention him, he rode like a bloody demon, shame the Goldie didn't front on Sunday (gearbox).
Foss
