Hey zman, I had an 82 RM250 and found the stock reeds better than the boyesens - not such a massive hit made a smoother transition from the bottom and mid range. I have tried boyesens and v-force in my 84 KX250, currently running the v-force but to be honest I can't notice any real difference.

A Vforce is light years ahead of Boyensen shitters, a V Force is one of the very few bolt on mods that give a measurable increase in engine output right across the rev range.

do these reeds actually make a difference over stock. see plenty of boyesen reeds on ebay, an they make them for the PE. i was thinking of getting some when the time comes to rebuild it. there made of plastic so if they break it wont do any damage if they fall into the motor. but i dont think they would last half as long.
