Looking for a muffler/silencer for a 1977 rm125b

Original or aftermarket?

perfer original but after market may be ok the one in picture can you do it in black.

DOn't do them in black, it would be easy for you to do that yourself if you wanted to go that way.

are you doing a restoration, or just want to ride it?
Standard was BLOODY LOUD and you will just piss people off. Get a decent muffler onto it.
Dirt Bikes are evil - ask your neighbours - and it is almost always because of the NOISE.

2 strokes are loud all together I am chasing a stock 71 tm400 pipe for my tm400 that will bark with that on no silincer.
Do you still have the pe400 muffler if I wanted to get another Geoff? ;)

Michael,i live 4 kms from the Frankston track and on Wed-Sat-Sun
all i hear is 4 stroke farting noises.
That deep bassy fart sound travels a loooong way.

Steve,i had the same problem doing my RM125C resto,and the mufflers that rarely came up for sale were dinged and average and still pulled over $130 + US.
I lucked out by looking for the RM125B,C expansion chambers and then asking the owners if by chance they had the muffler/silencer somewhere in their possesion.
As luck would have it,one of the sellers still had a muffler...he wanted $30.00....he got the money before i could even finish typing ;D and he even had a pair of very good 125C rear shocks which i needed 1 of but grabbed both.
They do come up but be prepared to pay and then spend time repairing it.
One of the members kind son on here drew out the dimensions off his dads 125B muffler last year and emailed it to me.....i will try and find it as i had a couple of computer melt downs in the past year.
Yell if you need it and if i can find it.

Thanks mario if you could find the demensions that would be good. i know of a bloke in sydney with early rm parts but getting him to part with them is going to be pretty hard.

I think that was my son that drew up the silencer - We had a tidy RM125C which we had the silencer for and used for the drawing and dimensions. We never used that original silencer on the 125C when it was raced because it was truely offensive. I bought an aftermarket steel universal type one from MCA in Sydney for around $60 and it worked really well. Noise level was acceptable and the bike went well. We sold that bike to a Heaven club member who also doesn't use the original silencer. He's from up Newcastle way.
I will have a look for the sons drawing.

Hi Pete,i did find the pic you sent me but not the email as i couldn't remember your name on here.
Lucky i did copy it and saved it on another h/drive and sent a copy to Steve.
I did find that C muffler about 2 weeks after you sent me the drawings as i was ready to try and attempt to make one.
So thanks again to you and Carl as i didn't want to take the glory for the pics and end up with egg on my face :)
I still might have a go at making one just for the hell of it oneday.

Boys, Yeah happy to assist. Carl did a good job on that drawing so it would be good to see if one could be made some time. Time being the issue. Keep a look out for an RM 370 or 400C motor for us. Project racer in progress.
