Fellas,
desperately need help. I advertised for a 78 ID plate for my bike and recieved helped( it was sold as a78 ), how ever on inspection with my original 79 model find that the 79 model does not carry a vin no. on the plate but has it embosed in the frame. My 78 is actually a 79 (compared frame no.s).
Now the big question WHO knows what a 78 ID plate has compared to a 79 ? Does a78 have a embosed frame no and a VIN no. on the ID model plate or just a VIN on the plate?
I have seen a78 plate 5/78 and it carries aVIN no. but a 79 plate only has month/year . Does a 78 have a vin no. in the frame or just the plate?
Does anyone know the difference in ID between 78&79 frame models? Is what I have found out right or is something wrong?

Thanks fellas. according to the info
the race bike has 79 frame 2111### but a 78 engine
original bike has 79 frame 2109### and correct engine.
My 79 is 1/79 made in japan no vin on plate but has frame numberred, it has not been tampered with, I bought from original owner. It was sold in QLD when new.
Marshall, does your frame have the number as well as on the plate?
I am not worried about the original, the race bike will need a 79 plate to make me feel better.Might have to make my own. With todays digital photos and sticker/printing anythings possible. But would prefer a proper 79 plate.
Anymore info out there please add. Steve
