I've always liked those early KTM's, it amazes me how many good bikes where made in 74, probably the year that there was the most to choose from and that could win a race.

In 1974, my friend and l drove to melbourne to buy two bikes, he was always riding CZ, and l was on 250 Elsinore, anyway we stopped off at Ethol Patterson in melbourne, he bought 74 red tank KTM 250, and l bought a 74 Husqvarna 250 Mag. we where over the moon, but as the years went on, l look back and l wish l had have bought the KTM 250 over the Husky.
KTM was a better bike.

Yeah I reckon these things rock .... KTM or early Husky is still on my wish list, buy my wife is screaming for blood each payday at the moment. ::)

While I like the 73 and 74 are great bikes the 1975.5 is a much different bike , the one big difference is the front axle is 100mm closer to the foot pegs , the weight is moved forward to a more 50/50 making the 74.5 much better in the steering.
This bike for sale is the only time I've seen 74.5 for sale

Hell I would sell my sister to a whorehouse for that bike.... actually I would sell her for a clean AG100 ... bait is not so fresh if you know what I mean ::)

Slakewell,
Just started work on my 74.5 Project.
Frame stripped ready for Blasting and powdercoat.
Just walked in from stripping the motor down. Will select a set of cases to use and then start match porting everything etc etc.
MX tank arrived a couple of weeks ago in good nick thanks to one of the Penton members. New seat base, foam, cover etc on their way.
Man i can't wait to have it together. I like the way my 74.5 400 handles so i only hope i get this one the same, will toy with the porting to be similar to my 81 250 as it is a smooth running motor, have a few barrels available so can play around, will be doing the 5 speed MC conversion.
I love the look of the 74.5, but Billy C's 76 MC5 250 is the one i aspire to find the same as and build one day.
