he says he had the exhaust made up -- looks very factory to me -- anyone know who can make a repro exhaust with pressed lengthways parts?

I'd say he has got something special there. Some parts are very trick while others seem more joe average. Don't know anyone my side who can build an exhaust like that. It seems factory pressed. Maybe not a full "works" bike but a privateer entry with some anonymous factory backing...

The exhaust is done by what they call "hydroforming"....google it.......pretty common and once you get your pattern sorted its a peice of piss....most aircraft piston engines exhausts are made that way.....it aint that trick.

A lot of car body panels & possibly the floor pan are done the same way, would be pretty pricy doing for a 1 off exhaust

The pipe has just been bead blasted or something then the seam welded over again. Hydroforming is easy and inexpensive , hydroforming accurately takes some skill. The belly of the pipe will pop first if the pressure is increased to get the smaller diameters to pop out the belly has also grown. Also the bends curl more than the original shape.

No doubt the bike is an OW though seems even 'reasonably' priced.

Never seen such a thing,  so thanks for all the photos and comments so I could have a look and read.  Love the knurled forks and bottom yolks...

so much looks similar to the 74 YZB - is it an OW or a pre production bike???????  And how could you be sure it's an OW anyway and not really a 74 model?  I also have some photos of this bike I picked up somewhere off the next some time ago.

cheers

Rossco

It's the real deal... a '73 works YZ360. The first of the OW's came out in '74, it's not an OW.
The bike is exactly the same as Hakan Anderson's '73 world championship winning works 250 except for the '74 swingarm and airbox like he says and a couple of other parts missing. If in doubt have a look at Hakan's bike on Terry Goods website.

Sold for  $10,200.00 US dollars....pretty cheap really....I guess the market for ex "works" bikes has been affected by the GFC?.....thing is in the USA, a YZ360A would pull more than that!!!....and they made 500 of those suckers.
