Does anybody know if "Clarrie the Clown" is still about? Does remember cheering him as a champion , then having been murdered by him (and lots of others in a few races :D) on the sidecars as a kid and later as a very >> crazy << showman. Thanks and Cheers .Tim

Yes Clary is an old friend of mine , we hade many battles on the short circiut. He has done what Evel Knevel has done , but never hit the big time as he did. He is still around and calls in from time to time.
Hi is going towards 60 now and is slowing down a little . But we have many memories to share.

Thanks Walter. is good!!!! ;D

LAst i saw clarrie the clown he was ridding a bike off the top of the cliffs at pondie ( 100m drop) and landing in the river, i think after that stunt he took a step back.
any way - what walter said, he is around but with less of a profile.
-
Freaky , those facts are not correct , and Clarry beeing a friend of mine , I do not want to elaborate on the forum. He has done alot for motorcycling and is and was a fair but fearce competitor.
-
that was him though that jumped the bike or car at pondie right ?
and he really was a motoring icon from what i remember
-
Yes he did have his second jump at pondee . But the first one was jumping 40 meters of the cliff into the murray in 84 . You need balls for that :-\
-
ok i may have exageratted the cliff jump, but it looked a bloody long way down to me, and from memory he hit the water hard and broke stuff too even mae the tele ithink..... Balls or crazy, maybe a bit of both ? nice guy though liked to chat...
-
Well freaky , Clarry is from the old school like me and they are getting fewer .

Talking of old school, Did you ever race at clarendon Walter when it was open ? looked like a great track, i remember going to a mr motorcross round there in the early days then it just stopped ? why did that close down ?
-
Yes I rode at Clarendon 3 times . (81, 82 and 83)That was a proper track , good layout through the trees and up and down the hill. But urban sprawl put a stop to it.

Last time i went past it was all still a paddock and no real houses had sprung up, it was still set up that hill in the valley neear the old tip, it was that loamy kinda wet base as well, pity i reackon that would have been an awsome track to ride, to many of the ones nowday are that hard packed rocky dusty rubbish.
Id love to build a track at mount compass and own that nice soft soil, perfect for face plants. The guys in the club had all the eathmoving stuff down at our parwa track on the weekend and we have got that looking real tidy, its in the valley but crosses over a rise so its interesting to ride and has that nice base too. IF it wasnt so far out it would be perfect for a round of MR X series , but alais then everyone would know its there :O(

Just buy the land , my Wasp likes that havey black soil ;D ;D
