Title: rm250b
Post by: noisy toy on November 15, 2010, 09:21:18 pm
Hi all,
I have an RM250B engine which has had some nice looking port work and a +040 Wiseco piston. The bore measures up ok so a new piston should see it right. It was running enough to wear a piston a bit, but when i took the barrel off there was no reed valve. Never was on this build, looking at the gasket. I didnt think they would even run without the reed valve, am i missing something? I think it was an older rebuild because the gudgeon pin has spiralox. I didnt think they have used these for a while, can anyone help?
I am now looking for a new plus 040 piston kit too!
Cheers, Shane

Shane they ran a crankcase reed bolted to the under side of the cylinder. Never tried running one without it.

Yeah i dont think it would work with no reed valve. I had one come loose on the mounting holes on my TS185 once which i didnt know at the time, but it just started running terrible, so terrible that in the end i had to push it home!. When i took the top end off it was plain to see that the 2 mount screws had come a little loose and the valve wasnt tight on the gasket.
