Title: Identify engine with engine number
Post by: Christo on November 14, 2010, 02:22:24 am
Hi all,

I supposedly have a '74 KX450 engine with the engine number K5E-90175.
I was looking thru the kawasaki section in this forum and spied that it should start with K2E?
So what engine do I really have then? Its still in its crate. Looked on google and the closest I found
was a document saying KX400? 1976/7?

Hi Christo  - I checked up and the KX450 engine number goes from K5E900001     you are correct that the first 1975 KX400 engine number goes from K5E903001   - indicates they must have made anywhere up to 3000 KX450's   - the F12MX which was the 1973 forebearer to the KX450 engine number started with just 90001.  Cheers Trent
