Title: NOS SWM/Marzocchi Front End
Post by: TT on November 08, 2010, 09:47:11 am
Is it worth anything?
I've come to the conclusion that my SWM is too modified to have any hope of returning to to original condition. So that leaves the question what to do with this front end.

btw That's not rust on the forks, it's wax to prevent corrosion.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Please explain!
YZ front ends are put on a lot of bikes as they were good forks and brakes.

But I don't understand why it cant be put back.

You have wheel, backing plate and forks. Are you missing the triples or has the frame been modified to accept the YZ front end?

That's the problem. The frame has been modified. The bike's had a hell of a lot of work done to it. Far too much to economically get it back to stock. Plus I haven't got the time. I just want to ride it.  ;D
Besides, it really works very well. It's a bit tall for tighter vinduros, but I'm thinking I can easily shorten it a bit.
Then there's the fact that it was built by Barry Higgins, so I'll assume he had some sort of idea what he was doing................ wouldn't he???  :D

Just thinking out loud. Still undecided what to do with the bloody thing.

hi Tony T,
As GMC said, post some detail pics of the modified area so we can see what has been done.

I got the original front end back in it tonight and it looks ok. Sorry, didn't take any photos. I was too keen to see how it went together.
I'm shortening the shocks to match the lower height, and once that's done, we'll see what it steers like.
Might not be so bad after all.  ;)
