can you run under pipes on evo 2t blkes at a national
-
I'm no rulebook expert but I can't see why not. They'd been fitting them to 2 Strokes for 2 decades previous.
-
need the rule on it as we are starting to build the engine for next year
-
as evos have no date cut off or starting point i see why not.its for dirt track and down pipes are all the go for dirtrack bikes.pipes on tt500s do not follow the original they are all down pipes.there you go whats good for 1 is good for the other.

you would have to be careful at the national level.someone may protest the oem rule if you beat them.
-
tt500s at the nats dont have oem your xl hondas dont have oem most racing 4 stroke bikes dont have oem.no one would be able to ride
if that was protested. all your 2 strokes with the coned pipes not oem.go to a dirt track meeting and see how many bikes have mods on there pipes.and this is at national level.i can show you pics of the 500cc australian evo champ bike 2010 mod/down pipe.
-
I can't see it being a problem, short circuit was & is still based on modified bikes, if it was used in a previous era then it should be okay today.
-
look at all the pics of thr 2010 nats in griffith

i dont know what penny you are playing with but if i wanted to run my tt500 in evo it will pass with a speedway type pipe on it.they have been since 1976.
-
I can't see any reason why not, bar the dumb rule 18.3.0.4 'Exhaust must me modified but must generally follow original lines. If this rule was ever seriously enforced half of the bikes racing would be outed. The reason for its inclusion was to prevent modern "fatty" pipes in pre '75 but it's badly written. It should be either totally removed or modified to explain its meaning a lot better.
-
GO for it. You would be in your rights to agrue the ''original line is that taken by an original aftermarket pipe of that period - which is easy to show in any picture of a bike from that era in a date mag.
Armed with that picture on your bike in that period you would have a solid case and would overrule the " generally "definition

thanks for your comments guys ,might just go with the down pipe and see what happens.

gdr i think you didn`t really get a straight answer to your question yes or no.but i can tell you that the moms is printed a white paper but there is a lot of grey in there too.p.s don`t forget to fit a silencer 18.3.0.4 b)
