Title: More guests than users on forum

Right now we have 32 guests and 15 users on the forum. Why is it that the guests usually out number the registered users? Do they want to be fence sitters?

It's the hidden's that worry me.

 Guests could be anyone who simply searched vintage or vmx or any number of models or names. I often search something and end up finding something else that grabs my attention so I would be a guest on each of those sites also, an unknown sticky beak yes 8) doesn't mean I'd like to join though ;)

Its not hard to work out who the hiddens are but what I don’t get is when you go to the stats center

It says total amount of members is 1742 But further down we have had 2560 new members join up in October and its increasing every month. I don get it ??? ???
Even if the true amount of members is only 1742, we have still only had 186 voters out of 1742 vote here http://ozvmx.com/community/index.php?topic=15134.0

No it is all the people that have signed up, but admin has not let them all in because no dout most of them are spammers etc, I get it a little on my forum, but what I do to stop them from trying to get in time after time is block there IP address and that usally slows them down from re-registering non stop under differant names.

There's also the "Bots" and "spiders" from Yahoo, google etc that make up the numbers. Basically they're programmes that trawl the forums for their search engines.

Plus what EBT said - retrodirtbike gets about 10 registrations from spammers for every one real new member.

There are plenty of times i don't log in on the work computer when i'm having a look and i spoke to 3 guys yesterday who are not members but regularly read the forum.

I don,t always log in, just have a quick look and move on if nothing catches my interest. :)
