This could well be the make or break weekend for Mark Webber. Korea is a new track for everybody and it will be interesting to see how the cards fall, he freely acknowledges that he needs to win one soon. I hope this weekend is the one.
Keep you fingers crossed for him… ;D ;D ;D
-
Just pipped by Alonso, he's on the unrubbered side of the track, if he gets a good start he might be able to get on the rubbered up side and run away with it. ;D
-
Lets see Seb's tactics at the start...seb running to the dirty side to block our "Aussie Mark"
-
I'm hoping that them championship goes down to the wire with Vettel & Webber side by side on the grid for the final race and Webber wins in the same way as Senna in 1990....payback is a bitch!!

Well its all gonna come down to the last race now to decide who wins the championship.
-
Moreover there is a few twists to the tale as what has been a extremely interesting F1 season. Vettel has a chance of denying his team mate a drivers championship. Some like Peter Windsor are suggesting Vettel would rather Alonso win than Webber .As team orders are verboden, listen for the carefully crafted pre arranged nudge nudge wink wink code words that will be broadcast of pit to driver communications . The permutations are endless, will be facinating viewing.
-
hard to believe that with the money spent, that a team would allow such a tactical cock up, whether it's out of spite or not.
-
Some like Peter Windsor are suggesting Vettel would rather Alonso win than Webber .
After the amount of cow droppings Windsor talked last year regarding the USAF1 effort, I'm amazed anybody's printing any of his utterings at all... :o
Should be jampacked with interest in Abu Dhabi anyway. Personally I reckon it's Alonso's to lose, he's put up a good effort this year and certainly can pedal a car...
-
It is a huge tactical error to allow Webber to be 8 points behind Alonso when it could have been only 1 point.
Vettel can only win if [for example] Webber and Alonso take each other out, so it would have made no difference to that senario if he finished behind Webber in Brazil. RedBull have to finish 1st and 2nd to ensure the title - a big ask.
Much as I would like Mark to win, I really don't have a problem with any of the 3, but what does piss me off is how the FiA dealt with the Ferrari race fixing scandal earlier in the season. A $100K fine is nothing - that is only $14285.00 per point. They should have penalised the team by scraping the extra points they earned. Those extra 7 point Fernano gained are looking like a pretty good investment.
Much as I would like the sport to be a straight race with no team orders, and perhaps RedBull should be congratulated for their stance, historically is is anything but. If Alonso wins it will be tainted… though not as much as last years win in Singapore.
Fingers crossed… for Mark, but hear are all the possible senarios:
F1 scoring system:
If Alonso wins or comes second, the Spaniard wins his third drivers' championship.
If Webber wins, he goes to 263 points and will win the championship if Alonso finishes third or worse.
If Webber comes second, he goes to 256 points and will win the championship if Alonso finishes sixth or worse and Vettel finishes third.
If Webber comes third, he would be on 253 points and need Alonso to finish no higher than seventh and Vettel to finish no higher than second.
If Vettel wins, the German goes to 256 points. If Webber were to come second to Vettel, the pair would be tied on 256 points. If Alonso finished sixth or worse then the world championship would go to Vettel because he would have five grand prix wins to Webber's four. If Alonso finished third or fourth he would take the championship with 261 or 258 points respectively. But if Alonso were to finish fifth he would also be locked on 256 points with Webber and Vettel. In that scenario, Vettel and Alonso, with five grand prix wins each, would battle it out on countback to see who had the higher number of superior race results.
If Alonso and Vettel were to finish outside the top 10 and record no points, Webber could claim the championship by finishing as poorly as fifth.
If Alonso fails to score points, Webber finishes no better than 6th and Vettel no better than third, then McLaren's Lewis Hamilton could claim the title with a 25-point win to put him on 247 points.
In the case of a dead heat for a championship place, the driver with the higher number of superior race results will be awarded the place.

OK, I think I have got that... :o
So...
Who's gonna win then? ;D
-
You'll have to watch ;D
-
You need to give Jeffy more work to do AJ, he's obviously got to much time on his hands.....and he's just given me a headache......I need somone to clean my garage, could you send him up please?....090's needs doing too...and Oldfart's...and Johnnyo's.....that should keep him busy till after Xmas. He can bring all of our chrissy presents up too!!!. p.s.....He should probably do GMC's aswell but thats in the wrong direction and I wouldnt want to take advantage. ;D
-
Oh, I forgot.....go Webber!!!
-
Well, we're right on deadline now, so you'll probably get your wish Davey C. ;D
-
… he's obviously got to much time on his hands.....and he's just given me a headache......
Don't for a minute think I took my time to work all that out. Straight cut and paste from the SMH site. :D
Oh, I forgot.....go Webber!!!
And who do I want to win. Well unfortunately that should remain a secret as I am the 'kiss of death'!!!!
Then again perhaps I should use my powers for good? So I will cheer loudly for Alonso [or Eddie Munsters brother as I like to call him] to win the title!!! ;) Go Fernando, GO!!!
You need to give Jeffy more work to do AJ…
Davey, thank God I am self employed and Ajay isn't my BOSS. I can't imagine anything worse than spending all day, every day, locked in a dark, dingy warehouse cleaning and polishing Guitars and making sure they are all in tune just in case the Guitar Hero thinks he wants to play… that ONE!!
-
I never mentioned anything about polishing guitars.....you could do a new segment....." cleaning blokes sheds"....you would double the magazine circulation......imagine cleaning Firko's shed or Geobore's or that world famous in NZ bloke "TMBill"? what a job/life.....keep you busy for years. ;)
-
…what a job/life.....keep you busy for years. ;)
Sounds like a life sentence, not a job. Next candidate please…
-
imagine cleaning Firko's shed
You're psychic Davey....I've spent the last week giving my shed a makeover deserving of its own feature in Aussie Shed magazine. Inspired by the now legendary Jack Olsen and his famous Los Angeles garage,* I've been buying up a bunch of used Brownbuilt and Namco steel office furniture for the revamp. I'll have to buy more stuff just to fill the extra storage!

Now....What about that Mark Webber eh?
-
Your on to it big fella......dont ya feel good when you've re-noed the garage!! ;D
-
Well, wasnt that a fizzer.....didnt have the killer instinct I think. I dont understand the speed difference between his and Vettel's car and yet they where saying the Mclarens where the ones to watch. Oh well, theres always next year. I've got a funny feeling we might see a reign of championships to the hun for a few years.....has all that is required to be a arsehole/champion. Would be good to see Webber come back and wipe his arse though. Vettel new he had it won after saturdays last quailifying when he smoked them....very confident.
-
What a terrible weekend for Aussie sport, losing the league, union, some tattoed Yank wins the SuperX and now poor old Webber falls at the last hurdle.
Shit, now you guys know how we feel! ;)
-
Webber's car just wasn't fast enough (insert conspiracy theories here) and used it tyres to rapidly.
Vettle put in good performances to win.
-
Yeah, a bit of a bummer for Webber, but he has been at the centre of the most entertaining F1 season in decades. He did himself proud and it was great to watch - a top effort.
Unfortunately Vettel did deserve the title and good to see Ferrari weren't rewarded for their very clumsy scullduggery.
Bring on 2011 and the return of the turbos in 2012…
-
Simple good but not good enough
-
He was never good enough. He'll be driving V8s for 888 in a couple of years, a bitter and disillusioned man. :P ::)

Bullshit ;)
-
Well he is the second best #2 driver going around.
Vettel does deserve it as he pushed all the way to the end and I must say good on the team for not having team orders.
Webber lost it at Korea and has no one to blame but himself for that mistake.
He did however have a great season and when you think he was within 1000's of seconds at most events to Vettel the now world champion it is not a bad effort.

Mark was/is the No 2 driver, don’t ever think he was anything else. Christian Horner was severely embarrassed by Marks on track feats and whilst he showed the world that he was supporting Mark, it was all about Vettel. If Mark was even remotely being pushed as an equal then Horner would have made sure that Alguersuari's STR would have allowed Mark to pass and not be held up for as long as he was. F1 is all about 1 percenters and the general public don't see that. Horner played the game and Vettel came out on top as a result of this. If Mark had won the race and & Vettel didn’t even podium or place top 3 in the championship i could only imagine the bloodletting that would have gone on behind the scenes at RBR.
I certainly don’t believe Mark is a bitter and disillusioned man, far from it and if it had been at any other "RACE" track Alonso & Webber (along with Hamilton) would have given Vettel a fair shake. Whilst the Yas Marina track may be a "spectacle" for the punter it is rubbish for motor racing and rewards only the person who is on pole, typically the car with the best top speed. And this is not over yet, the protests with the engine allotment still has to play out but I am sure that Eccelstone will make sure that where the result is will stay, regardless.
-

Dead right. It seems a shame that a 19-race career-defining season should come down to one ballsup on a wet, dodgy artificial circuit, but tyhis year, for him, it did.
Tough stuff.... 8)
-

I was taking the piss over something I wrote months ago about Webber not being good enough. I'm sure he's not that bitter and disillusioned, just a bit disappointed. I still think he makes too many dumb mistakes but he is showing signs that he may just have the right stuff. He just has to stop hitting things. ;D
-
I wonder how long Webbers got to clear out his desk?
-
I wonder how long Webbers got to clear out his desk?
He has another year to go with RBR, so not till the end of 2011.
Having Flavatore Briatore in his corner will also help him and anything after that will be a bonus given he is 34.
But then again Schumacher is nearly 42, Rubens is 38, Trulli is 36 and they have done little to excite the punters in the last few years and are well below the current level of Mark. Some that have flown under the radar of recent times is Alonso who will be 30 next year and Button is only a handful of weeks away from being 31 so he may have a another contract in him yet. If not he can make a lot of coin racing some of the Japanese and European championships with far less stress.
-
If Mark was even remotely being pushed as an equal then Horner would have made sure that Alguersuari's STR would have allowed Mark to pass and not be held up for as long as he was.
I was never convinced about Webber being a number 2 driver until I saw that, it was blatant that he held up Webber until it was "safe" to let him passed.
I reckon there might be a few jobs going for race tacticians at Ferrari ;D What a F**K Up!! I can't beleive such an experienced team could stuff up so badly, when they said Alonso was coming in I thought nah you mean Massa....I couldn't beleive my eyes when I saw Alonso in the pits, that was never going to work ???
