has any one had success contacting Craig from the Husky club usa latley? the website says he had email trouble and changed email address so i sent email to his new address about Ohlins but havent got a reply after 2 weeks. he may be just busy, i dont know, it seems like everyone in usa is having bathroom plumbing spring leaks, house fires, earth quakes etc at the moment
-
I had an email from him about 3 weeks ago that indicated he is flat out at the moment, didn't say whether the rush was Husky- or plumbing-related. But the newsletter arrived about a week and a half ago. Maybe send one more and then sit tight, no doubt he'll get a round tuit.
-
I have sent a couple of emails and not had any replies (this was about 2 months ago). I just figured he didn.t check them all that often.
Is it worth joining to get the newsletter?
-
In my opinion it is, but then I am not too period-specific and I find it all of interest. He certainly tries his guts out to pass on handy tips, and if you are a member you can buy stuff off your card rather than farting round with money orders, exchange rates etc. There is a mine of info available, and it's also something of an enjoyment to belong to a worldwide group, as it is here on ozvmx forum. Also many of his prices are redhot, even after you factor in exchange rate and freight, which compared to the UK and Europe is pretty reasonable. But I have found Fernando at huskyparts.com.au to be a good soldier as well, he has his finger on the pulse and knows his stuff. As a newbie in Husky world, I have found the help and enthusiasm from all sides extremely generous.

But the newsletter arrived about a week and a half ago
I have sent several emails since early last year and had no response. The guys on the Yahoo husky group slagged Craig off for not answering emails or sending newsletters.
GD66, what is the latest newsletter number you got?

Last one I got was #38, but if you look in the archives of VMX magazine, at issue #19, on page 17, that's me in the background of the top photo. I'm new to vmx this season, with a 1974 WR400 Husky, but I've been in historic roadracing for years, so dealing with manufacturers and distributors is old hat. So, if you take the attitude I'm displaying in VMX #19, all will be ok for you mate. He might be a bit slow on the return of emails, but imagine the amount of gibbering tyre kickers he has to deal with, and weed his way through. I can recall seeing a post from Walter that indicated distributors don't get to emails as much as they'd like to , because of the amount of enquiries they receive that are, hmmm what's the word I'm looking for here, well, wankers, so I would suggest that you try one more time, then maybe ring. Again, give yourself some lead time (VMX#19, page 17) and all will be cool. Best wishes to all fellow Husky gallopers for 2008 ! ;)
-
Sorry to say, I never got any response from him either. Despite trying to spend money with him on and off for more than a year.
I simply gave up in the end.
Someone did suggest just sending him the money with the order and he will send the parts, but if he won't reply to an email, I'm wasn't going to risk that.
Good luck. :)
-
Fair call, mate.
-
Yep , a call probably could make all the difference. ;) ;). You would be surprised how many keyboard happy public servants fill out their day by sending a few mails just for something to.
We found the website is good tool to replace a katalog , but 95% deals are still done on the phone after they looked at the site. When you have a good description on the website , prices and pics that should do it.
-
That's a good point too, Walter. I didn't try to call him.
I get quite a lot of emails from tyre kickers too, but that's just all part of running a business and I personally don't feel there's any excuse to choose to ignore some enquiries.
That said, I don't know Craig's business structure and a call may well be the answer.
Let us know how you go. :)
-
The last newsletter I got was #38 and that was back in August 2006, so I am guessing that he didn't do any last year. Shame as they were very good.

ive thought about getting the news letter too. the update on the site says he had email trouble and changed emails and i sent it to the correct email. it kinda annoys me but if people dont want to reply to emails then why have an email address and advertise it? in the end i guess he misses out cos if he had the parts i wanted i would of bought from him regardless of price. i think im just going to have to stick with Phillip at husqvarna parts.com he's excellent.

Looks like it may be all over for the Husky Club

Well, that's sharpened things up no end ! So, he's happy to sit there and pick up $30US cash per time, to accept new members but give them nothing except the odd outdated newsletter, and then no reply to their orders or emails. Not good enough, and as one punter on the Thumpertalk link pointed out, Huskies deserve better. Anyone know a coupla big lads in West Virginia ? 8)

after hearing what Phillip from husqvarna parts said about him there is no way im gonna try bother with Craig. Phillip said Craig stoll some very vaulable stuff from him and his whole website is just a big front for his scamming and dishonestly

Well, I am not in w.Va, but am in Texas. For a small fee and travelimg expenses I would be happy to convey your displeasure ;D ;D( hey I'm a Maico guy-need to make all the $ I can). Sorry to hear of this-glad I didn't buy Magura levers etc from him. Thanks for the warning.

Well, having read all this after I subscribed late last year, I have emailed him, shall we say, an expression of displeasure, and requested a refund in view of his lack of impetus. The quest continues....
You'd have to wonder at the folly of letting it all wind down, after going thru so much pain and pus to establish a network of that magnitude.... ???

Does anyone know someone/a number of people who between them has/have a complete collection of Husky Club newsletters? It would be fantastic if they could be made available for copying and pdf'ing and then made available to forum members through this website. Download from a website would be easiest but file sizes could be large.
I have newsletters 30, 31, 32, 34 & 35 thanks to Pokey who bequeathed them to me. I'd be more than happy to copy and share these with people. I'd copy and scan any other newsletters that people would care to lend and put onto a CD for posting onto a website (this one?) or email.
I cant see any copyright notices on the newsletters I have so I assume Craig would not be too concerned - particularly if he hasnt done one since 2006.
Any interest or other thoughts on this? Maybe someones already done it before.

Great idea PEZBerg! I's be up for coughing up a reasonable sum for back copies. Seems a shame to let so much good info go down the pan.
-
Excellent idea! I have 7, 9, and 15 to 38 inclusive. Some of the info is pretty obscure but no doubt useful to someone. Will see what I can work out, but it won't happen in a hurry sorry.... Let me know if you have any specific queries and I will see what I can find. There are useful things like paint mixes for Husky colours etc.

Good to see that there is a reasonable number of the newsletters about. Looks like I don't need to put mine online, but am of course happy to help with specific enquiries if I can.

Well I've made a start and copied and scanned the 5 Husqvarna Reports I have (30, 31, 32, 34 & 35) The process I used at work has resulted in 9Mb files for each Report. Not sure how to make these available via the forum via the internet. Can I post them somewhere? They are 20 page pdf documents so Photobucket may not like them.
Alternatively if I can compress them to 5Mb I can post them on Husky Owners yahoo forum and provide the link from here. Does anyone know how to compress a pdf to a lower resolution...do you need Adobe Acrobat?
Come on you IT gurus..I need help. Get this sorted and then we can post all the remaining Reports that people may care to lend me for copying and returning or post themselves.

Am I correct in seeing an ad for the Husky Club in the new issue of VMX?
One assumes that he has paid in advance - but shouldn't future ads be pulled? ???
-
Damn straight, the charlatan b***tard, I sent him a scorching email denouncing his practice of getting newbies to send him $30 US a time, while he sits at home with no intention of fulfilling his obligations in return, and demanded a refund of my subscription...... the silence is deafening....... In addition, I believe VMX mag are under some sort of minor moral obligation to dump his ads in view of the total collapse of any effort on his part to come to the party re following up in response to new members. Your thoughts, Andrew ?

Saw that! He's having a laugh! I've sent an email to VMX expressing my 'surprise' they are still running his ad.
