Boots:
yesterday I stumbled upon two pair of brand new Joel Robert replica SIDI MX boots.
The replicas are the old style black leather boots with the red, white and green stripes down the front.
The sizes were 46 and 47 and I'm sure they were $250 for a pair.
They're at a Shop in Brisbane; let me know if you want details.
Leathers:
I'm chasing a plain black pair of old style MX leathers.
I'm currently a 44 waist and no doubt will need to get them altered, so that's not an issue.
Can anyone assist?
Sorry about the 'bold' text - it was accidental and I can't figure out how to un-bold it...

Mate!! PM me. Which shop??? I'm up for the 47's....

Walden millars in SA, unley road used to have a dunger rack ( trade in) i bought a pair of yellow padded ones a few years back cause they seemed cheap, sold them latter for 2ice the money to a road rider, look them up on the net and call them, they used to get some weird old trade in, or scout your local Thrift shops i seen a few in thme over the years, now i have discoved Ebay i might even buy them and list em myself :O)

Thanks Freaky; yep I've tried the Walden Miller site earlier today.
And Mars Leathers and Stagg Leathers and I've Googled Hallman and Fury and several other brands I recognise on old MX photos from back in the day.
I've been chasing for months as I slowly put together all the gear I need for a fresh start in '08.
I'll 'phone Walden Miller on monday as their site lists only leather fashion pants and stylish biker duds etc.
Any Company that previously made these items will surely have the old patterns available??
This reminds me of the thread on the old Mr. Motocross posters.
There's a market out there for this retro gear; surely these Companies have the ability and patterns and original copies etc to make some bucks from the sizeable VMX community out there?

Doesnt VintageIron make leather MX pants? Try there website

Dude call them they would be a shitty trade in pair out the back and they would probally alter them as well.
The pair i was talking about was yellow with sblack stripe and had those hip circle puffy panels stitched into them, ugly but nice leather i do remeber that.
Only way to find out is call them. im back at work on monday and work round the corner, im trying to get onto a size 34 One peice speedway style pressure suit so i was going to see if they had any in there by chance, ill tell ya if i see something.
-
Thanks Freaky, I'd appreciate that.
Yes, I'm pretty sure Vintage Iron have the leathers in the old style.
However, from memory they were about $700 USD and I'd be up for an import tax on top of that.
I bought a leather flying jacket from the US a few years ago and I was slugged 105% import tax on leather goods.
WTF, I had no idea!
So, I'm keen but not that keen...
If it's leather I'd better source it in OZ.

OR get a ticket to bali and have one custom made to a photo you supply for around $300 AUD and get a cheap holiday , pick up in 3 days :O)

Try DBT leathers in Sydney, they are in the suburb of Yagoona and make custom leathers, they should be able to help, I still have my first pair of DBT leather from the 70's
-
Thanks BETRIC, I recognise the DBT name from the distant past!
I'll give them a try.

those JR replica boots are distributed by McLeod Accessories so just visit your local shop and order a pair in your size if you want some.
-
I bought a great pair of Sidis for $24US on eBay. Check it out before you throw money at old boots.
-
no the ones sold by McLeods are not old or nos boots. they are modern old style replicas of the original JR Sidi boots. They are specially made with newer updated materials/methods for VMX guys who want old style looking boots. there was a write up in the in VMX mag on them
-
Yep, the boots I saw were brand spankers without a single crease.

HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY SIDI
miss that velcro :P Sweet oldskool pics on the below website link. 8)
If you are a Motocross fan then you would be very familiar with the iconic Italian brand SIDI, which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2010.
In 1960 SIDI commenced production as a single craftsman in a small workshop in Italy manufacturing mountain sports footwear. A decade later SIDI began specialising in cycling footwear and boots for both on and off-road motorcycling.
Mr DIno SIgnori, the founder of SIDI, proudly carries his initials behind the famous brand. He has combined “50 years of uncompromising passion, tradition, innovation, style and comfort to make the most advanced motorcycle boots in the world.”
Famous riders to have worn SIDI boots to MX World Championship glory include 5 times World Champion, Joel Robert, 2 times world champion, Andre Malherbe, 10 times World Champion Stefan Everts and more recently 3 times World Champ Antonio Cairoli.
For me the 1983 “Super Pro” boot with its yellow shin plate, red leather and minimalist three strap velcro “buckles” was about as cool as MX boots ever got.
Happy Birthday SIDI.
