The 78 79 style Maico are my favorite Maico , i really like the 79 models but prefer the 78 short side panels  :)

Me too....the red one gets my vote, it's sweet. The yellow one would look much nicer if the tank was painted yellow for whatever my opinions worth.
For a while now I've been thinking of building a 350 version once I've cleard the shed backlog. All I've got is a Thor swingarm, a set of 15" Works shocks and an '81 250 donor motor but it's a start ;D the other stuff will appear when and if I decide to build it.  ;)

Yellow does it for me ....maybe beacause it blends in with the back ground better ( green ) not the fence   :)

I like them both but the yellow is cool cos it's a bit different.

Hmmm

Like both colours but lean towards the red and bloody nice Frankens they are too !!! The silver and yellow bike looks spindly - sort of light weight. An illusion due to the lighter colours?

Definitely the gold rims on Red and black rims on Yellow.

And send the sliders up from the yellow and I'll spruce em up - have they been done with a wire brush?

Cheers

Dave Mac  :)

So what's involved in making a franken bike?
I am gearing up to give my 490 a big do over including bling and am confident I can get a frame.
I was leaning towards a white bike but am now keen on the yellow between yours and seeing this tank on the bay.

brad  do you want to build a franken bike or are you going to finish your 81

Both. My racer is a GS frame so I am keen to do a Franken bike with it. The MC is still down the list a fair bit.
Are the shocks the same length as thee '81?
Do you have to modify the frame?
