Im a virgin when it comes to the Vinduro scene so please be gentle with me. Whats the cut off date? I might be able get my hands on a 1987 KTM 310. Is it too new? Are the discs and water cooling considered too modern??? Cheers Jerry

At this stage, Vinduros are pre 85 as far as I know.
No doubt someone else more in the know will chime in if anything's changing for 2011.
That said, if you get it at a price you're happy with, it would still be a nice bike to own. ;D

Vinduro is Pre 85, keep that bike for when the Pre 90, Pre 95 starts, might be called ( retro ) maybe Nathan S might get something going for all the Post 85 bikes :) checkout ( retro dirt bike australia ) forum.
Cheers Mick.

What's a 310?
They made 250, 350 & 500 2-strokes, and a 600 4-stroke in 1987.
There had been a 2-stroke 300 in 85/86, but I'm pretty sure they'd dropped it by 87.
But yes, too new for Vinduros ATM. Plenty of events will turn a blind eye to a late 80s bike, but you wouldn't bet the house on it...
If you're in Vic or Qld, then you can race pre-90 VMX on it.
I've got an 89 KTM125GS and a '87 KDX200 that I would love to take to a Vinduro... *sniffs*

Correction 350! Thanks Nathan

The 350s were supposed to be a good thing - more grunt than a 250 without being as brutal as a 500. Geoff Ballard basically owned Aussie Enduros in 1988 on an 88 KTM350 - but then again, he did that virtually regardless of what he rode...
I'd love to get a ride on one.

Jerry, just turn up and make them throw you out. My bet, most clubs will take your ca$h and be happy you're having fun...
After all, even VMX ran two HUGE pics of post 85 bikes in the last issue.

You have to write down what you are riding when you send the entry form in so they will let you know, unless you just enter on the day...
cheers Dale.

Seemed to be falling apart underneath him though.
