Title: IT250 models. What year was it made.

I have been offered a early IT250. I have not seen the bike yet, but am told it has a steel swingarm. What models and years were made with steel swing arm? I am hoping it is pre78 legal. What year was the first IT250 made? Any help would be appeciated.

First year was 1977 D model. That is the only pre 78 legal model.

When did they go to alluminium swingarm?

IT250H in 1981 was 1st year the IT250 had alloy swingarm.
Check out Yamaha IT Australia for stuff like parts list pdfs, etc.
