Suzuki TM 250L ( 74) has won a few SA titles and been to a few Nats. (fork seals now leaking from last weeks Dt NAts Run.) will need a tidy up.
Yamaha 125A model, tankstrapper, Matching number IIRC, motor apart with bottom end just rebuilt just needs to be put back in cases, frame repainted, bike reassembled to a roller basically.

Current Pictures will come when i get a chance, unless sold ealier.
I do have older pics below but may not belike actual Today ( asi change things out for Diff. disciplines, the MX front end will be the MXA, the TM a stock pipe etc)
IF your interested then get on to me anyway and we can discuss how you want it to come anyway, (Race or restore).

NUmber 8#
Will look like this ( well this is the correct frame for this one, but will have an MXa forks and wheel, also standard seat cover and the wheel knobby rear and the motor will have black barrell and head, stock ext, stock shocks and so on..... Forgot we have a MX state title in 3 weeks so ill not get around to this till after then , when i get a chance to put everythign back on the bikes it is supposed to be on ( trouble with borrowing bits and not replacing stuff is during the year it gets shifted around on to what bike classes you run - which is another reson im trying to cut back to just the ones im racing, and i got a speedway almost lined up so i wanna make some space and tie up some loose end in the off season.
I know that dont answer the question, but i can only get to take more photos when i put all the stuff back in the right spots if you need to see it, before you decide what your doing. BAsically they will be offered prity much stock and they certainly are runners. But yer sorry i thought we had finished racing for the year, as soon as it run/Done ill get back onto it, put them back to order and offer them properly :-[

any info on the SC500
-
Tossa what do you want to know ? i have an 73 and an 74 and another i use in a champion. So ill be selling a complet bike or enough to make one if you want to go that way. What did you want, and what do you want to spend and i can tell you what fits the bill, up to you then were you want to go from there.
-
Tossa - don't go there - look what happens to you on a 360!!!!
-
ow that still hurts!!!!!
-
I tell you what Tossa - just because I want to look after you - how about you buy the SC - I buy the motor off you - then I can make my YZ500 and you will be safe with a
zimmer sorry roller frame!
-
though still suffering from my self inflicted injuries of throwing myself in front of another bike, and being doped up on pain killers, though you wouldn't notice any difference in my demeanour!!lol I'm not that dumb, I was looking at possibly putting the motor in another frame as well. Isn't it amazing how a doped up off his face brain and yours are on the same wave length, well almost, I'm just on a higher plain!!!lol
-
the Sc500 is the same frame as the 250 and the 360, if i was going to suggest anything they might make a good pre 75 side car bike, certainly more grunt that the 360 side cars i have seen around the place, plus with the extra weight of the chair, they probally would have more power control.
I heard there is a guy over in the west that has one thats running well, not sure what he has done to it, but you might ask him to post it up as id be keen on listening to the mods.....
Sc500 is the biggest MX yam made short of a YZ 500 and it took Honda/suzuki 10 years later to have a look at that cc too before they realised in a 2 stroke its a bit over the top.
still there a peice of history and fetch more than there little brothers probally for that reason.
-
I know of 2 over here, one is Pete lawsons, in a YZA frame, damn flies. the other I haven't seen on the track yet
-
Pete's is in a YZB frame - Tossa - the other one was at both Wandering and Narrogin 15th. Looks like it goes well also.
Rossco
-
How the hell did they fit it in a B frame ? actaually why did they springs to minf more............. would have needed all new mounts for a start............. then again why wreck a YZ frame, original motor would have been the ticket and still would have flown.
IS that the guy that resleeved it down to a 450 honda piston ????
-
I've had a couple of SC500 Yams over the years...one a stocker, the other in a Champion frame. The engine in the Champion had been modded in the USA back in the 70's and worked a treat but handled like a bucket of shite in the flexi frame. I had some problems with the pistons cracking around the gudgeon area so I welded up the little cutaways next to the gudgeon and that problem disappeared. I also fitted a rewound points magneto (can't remember the details). I sold the Bike to Edgar Phipps who braced up the swingarm and fitted a very trick engine with a CR500 Honda piston in a new sleeve and a 5 speed trans, with out the omni phase balancer bullshit. That basic engine in a stock frame and road race wheels topped 120mph at Bathurst with Brian Clarkson on board back in the 70's so getting serious performance out of the big lump isn't impossible...you just have to know the tricks. A 38mm carb on methanol a modern pipe and V Force reeds work a treat at well.
I saw the YZ500 of Lawsons a few years ago and I must admit it's a nice swap. Because of the rarity of the YZ frame it's probably not a sensible swap these days.
-
well I would suggest Freaky that if you had an SC500 motor spare and a YZB frame excess to use (lucky bugger) then why not!!!! And after seeing our Kiwi compatriot Mr Ploen on it at the 15th Anniversary it fair flies. Some inside engine mods (minus the decomp etc I think) and the "old" motor faults are gone and putting it in a YZB frame means it handles significantly better than the original frame - and voila - maybe what Yamaha should of built.
I have ridden Pete's a couple of times - and geez it's good. Haven't ridden the other one yet but might have to work on that!!!!
And there is a YZB frame on Evilbay at the moment - for a modest $395USD plus shipping?
-
A "revamped combustion chamber" SC500 VMX Sidecar. Mmmmm Freaky sometimes you really hit a sweet spot. """If """ the home finances were available, they are not... I would love that build challenge as I do have a spare universal Wasp sidecar frame or two....Mmmm Tim754
-
Some inside engine mods (minus the decomp etc I think) and the "old" motor faults are gone to work on that!!!!
IM sure its more than just remove the Decomp. I got 3 sitting here waiting for somthing to fire me up, i have a spare champion Yam 3 that it will bolt up to, so if you can find me the spec on the motor, look out Dt nats 2011. thats could be a laugh
-
You are a freak!!
-
HEy davey send me the spec on your 125 too, as ill get round to putting the other 125 back together over xmas hopefully and you tell of making them run with the elsies, so ill give that a try too if ya like. Just dont have time to do my own testing in trial and error so much.
-
yes Freaky - more than just the decomp - thats what etc means!!! Mate - not back home for a month but no doubt will see Peter or Ray then - see what I can find out and let you know.
-
I saw the YZ500 of Lawsons a few years ago and I must admit it's a nice swap. Because of the rarity of the YZ frame it's probably not a sensible swap these days.
What about messing with a DT1 frame ? morphed into a YZa ??? i got a few of them here so that might be a cool swap ( i prefer twin shock frames anyhow ) and funnily enough i like the way the Dt1 handles, being tall maybe it seems to suit me better....
without weighing one id also reckon they be lighter than the MXa frame. ??? ???
-
There is a known sucessful SC500 sidecar around here from the the late 70's. Engine was in a Bultaco frame and had a home built outfit, and the engine had been converted to watercooled and was thought to have been the only watercooled converted SC500 in southern hemisphere. Anyway that bike won the 24hr twice. It took until 1994 for another 2stroke sidecar to win it.
-
Leith, WHo owned it, a local ?
-
hi freakshow how much do you want for the tm250?
-
Yes Freaky a local. Full stand up MX type outfits only came in a couple yrs later ;)
