I am thinking of buying a PVL ign for my CR250m,For & against?all opinions gratefully accepted thanks Smed

Smed - I had a PVL on my CR250 - extrememly reliable. A number of times the guys with just points had the usual points problems. I would recommend it. Also if you go down that route check out these guys - www.rexcauntracing.com - in the UK so maybe don't have a price advantage now but they also carry parts which others don't do.
best of luck

Why not run a CR125 ignition? I have one on mine and it was cheaper than a PVL .

Tell me more tee bone,I dont ride my 125m anymore so i could take it off and use it on the 250!does it fit straight on or are mods needed? & how does it perform as the standard 250 has no advance mechanism where the 125 has electronic advance,I have noted the pvl has no advance either. :)

The 125 ignition fits straight on - same taper on the crank - and it makes it way easier to start. You'll need to make brackets for the coil and CDI unit, but other than that it's a good conversion, giving a much better spark.
Do it, smed - you have nothing to lose!

O.K. man, cheers for the info! :)

I was going to try and adapt a YZ80 ignition, but after talking with BigK, went the Honda route - I'm glad I did as there was less stuffing about with differing tapers etc. Thanks BigK!
