JUst got my GMC pipe in the mail today, raced home and took the old standard 260 pipe off.Test fiT the GMC pipe after putting on silastic gasket DOH!Doesn't fit exactly, grind off a bit of the front engine plate for the front section of header pipe to clear bolt up start up into paddock WOW!!!If you don't have one of these you should!!!apart from looking ace they bloody work.thanks Mr Morris.
-
Glad you like it.
Some one else has said it's a bit tight on the fins too.
How much did you need to trim off?
-
Are these pipes a copy of standard, or are the specifications for each model calculated by a tuner or tuning software?
-
Geoff I had to grind off 2/3 mm off the leading top edge of the engine plate.the header pipe is still touching and I might need to take a little more off as the spiggott is still proud of the barrell not flush but there are no leaks. No problems with the finning though. You know better than me there isn't a lot of room to work with between the front frame downpipe, fins and exhaust port.

It might upset GMC to remind him of this, but imagine how many hours go into the process of building a pipe from scratch. The research, testing and then the actual building.
When you think of all that, they're bloody cheap too! ;D

I don't think you will upset him Tony.
Now that GMC is a hugely successful multinational conglomerate, Geoff has his minions do all the hard graft. He is just the figurehead, sitting in his ivory tower having a manicure, surveying his domain and remembering how it 'used to be'.
Ah… the memories!!!!! ;)

Different models are built to different specs. based on design, space, experiance and feedback.
The side pipes as mentioned above are a compromise pipe, as are all sidepipes.
There just isn't the room to build the size and length needed when attached to the side of the bike
My CZ side pipes have headers that are a very close copy of the originals and are interchangeable with originals.
The chambers are a slightly different spec and don't have the huge dents in them that the originals have and this helps them perform better than the originals. Also come with built in mufflers.

Heatshields are a laser cut copy of the original 360 heatshield

The post 70 models are completely different to stock.
They are a one piece design with built in muffler, I get good feedback for these models.

Ha, I tried experimental cloning to enable my world domination plans to be successful.
Now that he’s 15 it just wants to sit on his arse much the same way I did.

so the cloning was 100% successful then?

I know how many hours go into it! We had a pipe built recently for the EMC. The bike was gone for a week.
GMC seems popular, so I was curious as to what went into these pipes. They definitely look the biz.

Those pipes look real neat gmc!...I reckon it would make an interesting thread on what goes into making one.....how you make/roll/cut the cones etc......

Fitted striaght up to the bike and coupled perfectly to the standard husky silencer

did he also supply the pine cone for that pic Shoey?
-
Nice pick-up Vandy.
Pine cone is from Pete's kit bag.
-
Technically speaking, the porcupine-pattern pine cone should only be used for Falta replicas, or FMF-kitted 125 Elsinores.
For the majority of makes with standard finning like the 430 above, please use a pineapple or hand grenade ... something like that.

Yep, thats Geoff. Deck chair, Pina Colada and a big stogie - and thats in the pits. He uses two bearers to carry him, suitable ensconced on his bike, around the Vinduro course.

Yes, well, there was a queue at the portable you see,
and it was at the back of the pits,
behind some old Can Ams.
I really didn’t think anyone noticed.

He has plenty of time on his hands these days as Ji is working for him.... slave driver aparently, thats why Ji hasnt been on the forum of late....Feild Marshall Morris is cracking the whip....stands outside the manufacturing plant, drinking scnapps, looking into the hills, waiting for the sun to come down from QLD, dreaming of fitting into his old riding gear and hoping they dont ever drain his dam!! ;D ;D

Iv'e run Geoffs pipes on my RM 125A , RM 250B, RM 400T, and YZ 125A :) they all look great and people often comment, the YZ 125A pipe is by far the most perfomance enhancing pipe though :) it really does make the little 125 get up and go.
-
Ira,how much did the Fleld Marshall pay you for such a glowing endorsement....
