Title: 54M Ready to Ride
Post by: TT on September 18, 2010, 05:40:22 pm
Just wanted to say thanks to GMC, Mick-De and IT400C for their help in getting bits to me quickly so I could take the Monty out for a ride tomorrow.
Just spent the day in the shed and gave it new oil, front tyre, bars, grips, controls, fork seals, airfilter and tidied up some bits and pieces. I also fited a set of NOS Mulholland shocks with springs and a rear guard that I found in the shed. Oh yeah, and an SP370 kill switch.  ;D
I haven't cleaned or painted anything as yet just in case it's got problems.
It runs really cleanly through the gears although there seems to be a lot of engine noise. Not top end rattle, more like bearing noise, but it goes away when the revs drop right down. It's no noisier than my Husky, though. Does that sound normal?  ???

Not bad for 1200 bucks all up so far, I reckon.  ;D

Yeah, but it will end up costing more. I've only just got it to a ridable stage for now.
It needs some more doing to it and most of what I still need is on it's way from Southwest Montesa.  8)

Looking good Tony
Did you get out on it yesterday?
Did you lose any bark from the elbows, crush the pipe or anything dramatic ;D
