the shoulder at the bottom of the shock mount fouls the webbing on the swingarm mount.
Just wondering if notching the swingarm is the "normal" fix, or whether you modify the shock lower mount, ie. turn down the diameter of the shoulder?

Never been a fan of notching the swingarm, everyone i see do it does a horrible job of it. RM N/T has the cut out.
If this is an alloy swing arm you need these longer mounts for PE seen on this page http://ltthor.home.comcast.net/~ltthor/FAS.html
They were specifically built for a guy with a 80/81 175, im not 100% they will provide full clearance on 250/400 though because when i worked it out for mine i determined a bit longer would have been be better. I cant remember ho much longer over stock hes made these, but just send an email.
You will also find airbox issues, nothing that cant be overcome though.

I have went with ohlins I would have liked fox airshocks but I don't want to modify or change anything the ohlins will fit no dramas but you have to admit that fox look great and work great good luck with fitting them. ;)

Even if the ones hes got a not quite long enough for clearance, he can make some for you any length you want or i can put you in touch with with Thors mate who machines a lot of that stuff for him and I.

You don't say what model or what type of swing-arm. You don't say what type of airshocks. You don't say how much they need for clearance.
Using my psychic help line, I can tell you my fox shox bolted straight on without drama.
What hits, where, how much? Photos would be nice.

Yeah but you have the steel swingarm. They dont just 'bolt on' to the alloy swingarm ;) The alloy swingarms have a gusset that runs along the top of it. this cause a problem for most shock installations and fouls withe the eye or spring retainer clip and you either need to cut the guesset out like a RM N/T swingarm or fit longer lower eyes.

and of course you CAN - depending on the amount of clearance needed, etc.

Yep, alloy swingarm, and 1979-ish Fox airshox. The web is pretty much identical from the pe175x to the rm125t

They bolted straight to my DG arm, if you recall ;D (see my avatar photo at left) I guess it depends where on the gusset the space needs to be made.

Im talking about the stock swingarm. I can tell you they 100% dont fit with standard OEM swingarms (with out mods to shocks or swingarms), you cant even bolt the shocks on. The little flange where the bottom out rubber sits, clashes with the gusset that runs across the top of the OEM swingarm. IF i find some time today i will take a photo of it.
