Title: Montesa 250 Enduro Fuel Taps & Air Filter
Post by: TT on September 07, 2010, 01:10:19 pm
Why doesn't my bike have a fuel tap?  ???
Just 2 outlets as shown below.

Are there common taps available to put in place of those outlets? The parts book shows taps which is ideally what I'd like to fit.

Also, does this air filter look stock? It also has a foam filter that fits over the paper element, but it's pretty deteriorated.

Can I fit a Uni Filter pod in it's place?

Told ya I'd have plenty of questions about this thing..............  ;D

It must of had the fuel line hose clamped to the fittings on the tank then had inline fuel taps fitted.

I think they are the remnants of the taps. My tank has something similar.

Jared, SW Montesa, has taps - I'm guessing I think it was about $40 the pair.

The pod is definately non-original (and slightly dodgy  ::)). Pod filters are a common mod. Probably not as good as the OEM. Jared has replacement filters, filter frames and rubber hose connectors - not sure what it will set you back. I'll probably run the pod and carry a spare.

Yep, those are the remains of the original petcocks.  Aftermarket replacements are available.  Bultaco and Ossa use the
same size.  Unifilter two stage pod filters work good in place of the stock setup, which looks like its missing some of the filter
mounting bits.

Thanks gentlemen.
I'll add a couple of taps to the order I have for you Jared.  ;D

btw why do you insist on calling things 'petcocks'.................  :D :D :D
I've got a dog that thinks I'm talking about him if I say that................  ;)

Jared, are the taps for the Enduro alloy with big, blocky levers?  I've got 2 or 3 in my Montesa box which may be the same.

Montesa did have some petcocks that were rather blocky looking.

I managed to buy three of these last year for my VR. The strange thing is they came as Montesa-Honda in the packaging so I'm assuming they were made well after 1983. What would they have been used for? (as I can't imagine Honda churning them out as spares for the VR-V75 ::))

The Montesticles are made of unobtainium. Ross just puts the piccies of his ball bags up every so often. Why? Its a bit the same as a dog licking them - because he can  :D ;D :D ;D  ;)

The petcock thing is the same as the fender versus mudguard. One of those little wonders of international communication.

TT, why did you name your pet dog cock?  :D :o

Ross why isn't there a pen in the ball bag shot? Perspective man perspective ::)

Actually I don't hold onto unobtainium with a death-grip Greg. I sold the third one of these 'testies' for a mere 50 bucks.

I may be wrong but I think I can hear the sound of someone banging their head on a key-board...... :D
