Title: '82 XC/WR 250 Specs needed
Post by: Nitram on January 06, 2008, 11:46:29 am
Can anyone tell me the stock bore and stroke of a circa '82 XC or WR 250 ?  I don't have a manual, and I can't find anything on the www that helps.

And also, can someone with a manual (is there any such thing for EVO Huskys ?) check what the recommended torque settings are for the head/barrell nuts.

Finally, are there any specs for the ignition timing ?  I have read a figure of .118", but that is for a '75 model I think.  My bike has a Motoplat ignition, if that makes any difference.  And you check the timing by sticking a drill into a tiny hole-about 2mm-in the flywheel.

Much appreciated,

Nitram   :) :)

Hi, you don't mention the capacity of the XC/WR you are chasing, it appears the 250 is 69 x 64 mm. Manuals are available on the comprehensive huskyclub.com website, and I'd be surprised if the bore and stroke info you're after isn't on there as well, it may take a long and patient trawl though. It'd probably be worth emailing Fernando at Huskyparts.com.au, he is full book on all manner of Husky info. ;)

Hi Nitram

My 83 Husky manual states the following for a 250
Std bore = 69.50mm
1st over = 69.75mm
2nd over = 70.00mm
3rd over = 70.25mm

Stroke = 64.50mm
Compression ratio = 12.3:1
CR, WR and XC are all identical.

Timing is as follows
advance = 20 degrees Before Top Dead Center (BTDC) or 2.55mm on piston BTDC

You set the timing using the small pin through the hole to align the flywheel with the stator.  Adjust the stator backing plate until the holes line up when the piston is 2.55mm from TDC.

I got all my manuals (copies) off eBay - usually someone selling them.  Also can get them from Phillip at Husqvarna-parts.com.

Hope this helps

Steve
