soda blast or wet blast

Paint strip it...dont go near it with a sander as they are very thin and the heat from grinding it will weaken the metal ....and grinding it will also thin the metal. Put it in a cardboard box to stip as it keeps the mess off the ground and you can get rid of the stripped paint all in one box. Do it outside by the neigbors fence that you hate the most ;D and wear gloves and a face/breathing mask....enjoy!! ;D

make sure the paint stripper is the solvent type and not the caustic type

Yeah just go to Mitre 10 or Bunnings and get some stripper from there. i think one brand is called 'Poly striper' in a yellow and black tin. Its not cheap so i normally buy a 4L tin that is another brand. Its a liquidy/jelly stuff and strips most paints. Some really tough paints are hard to remove as is powdercoat. I used it on some old White Power shock springs and it softens the white powdercoat enough to peel it off with your fingers.

Jim, I use paint stripper on my XT/TT tanks. To help the stripper after you apply it wrap it in plastic and leave it to work it's magic and soften the paint and don't be sparring with the stripper put it on nice and thick after an hour or so it should just wipe off if need be repeat the process.
