Title: Cagiva WMX 250 '83
Post by: AJ on August 06, 2010, 08:44:30 pm
Hi,
Pretty much sourced all the parts for my '83 WMX 250 to start on the rebuild (at last). I haven't bought the plastics as the only ones I can find are the DC Plastics kit. DC don't get great reviews but it looks like there is no alternative. Any suggestions appreciated
I picked up a NOS Disc cover that even DC don't do. I would like to re-produce this item as it is the only one I have come across in the last 2 years of looking for parts. I don't want to use it. Any suggestions on getting it copied?
I haven't come across any decal reproductions besides the WMX 125 tank decals on ebay. Can anyone help with reproductions, as the tanks I have don't have the stickers on them to copy.
Thanks, AJ

You can send it to Les Riches the Maico dealer and he has a good working relationship with DC plastics they will take a copy and then send the orginal back at the moment they are doing a 84 pe 175 front # plate for me you do need to clearly mark what the part is If you do decide to go this way contact Les be patient as he is still recovering from his injuries of a couple of weeks ago.

G'day AJ,

keep up posted on your progress with the resto on this bike.

as for reproducing plastics there is a guy in Oz who was doing some very high quality Yamaha plastics, i cannot remember his name or company details but i know others here will know. also for tank decals 'http://www.decals4motorcycles.com.au/

Hoony,
Is he in Sydney? I think I rang him a year ago about the decals & never got a call back.

If your talking about Concourse parts for the plastics (Scott Wilson) you wouldnt have enough money or time to wait for them, better off to deal with DC and hope they do a decent job. AJ, read your messages.

AJ Les would be the better person to speak to about DC I gave my parts to him about 3 weeks ago I am not expecting a quick turn around. anorther alternative is you take a fibreglass mould off it then it doesn't have to leave your sight its not hard to do and it won't damamage the orginal and you can make as many replacements as you want. You could make the mould and then make the part from the mould and send DC the fibreglass part to copy.
