Hi,
I lost a front axle nut off my 83 CX250 at Conondale on the weekend. I took one off a mates bike that wasn't going and that kept me riding. Now I thought I would just go down to my usual nut and bolt guy and pickup a few spares....oh how wrong I was. I tried three different specialist shops on the sunny coast and came home empty handed. Can anybody guide me in the right direction for a suppler. I was told that the size seams to be 15mm.
Conondale Classic was the best...what a track...and perfect Qld weather.
Cheers

Hey Kenny,
Maybe try http://www.classicfasteners.com.au/ (http://www.classicfasteners.com.au/) ??
They've always given me good service.

Thanks Tony T, I'll be calling them tomorrow. After looking at their web site I'm sure that they will have what I'm after.
Cheers

Kenny....how are the nuts if you dont mind me asking ;D ;D ;D Did you source a replacement. eBay has plenty of axles with nuts if you want to get a complete spare. Probably cheaper than getting one machined up specially.

Hi Steve,
No joy yet....I have contacted just about everyone I know. Dealers, nut and bolt specialists, vintage bike builders...
I have now given the whole axle to a local engineer for some possible options.
I'll check out ebay USA but I'm sure the cost of the axle assembly plus postage will be very expensive.
I could get a metal detector and go out to Conondale. I know theirs two of these nuts out there. What's a metal detector worth..?
Cheers

You would need a metal detector as the track has had earth works done on it since that meeting.
After the meeting while we were rolling up all the tape and picking up all the pegs i found parts like, chain rollers, a foot peg, hoses, metal parts etc and i wasn't even looking.
Towards the end of the day there was a guy/rider who waked the track and nealy filled a bucket with small parts and then gave the bucket to Peter Bell. I think that bucket may still be in the club house. I am going to Conondale for the next three weekends so i will have a look for you and let you know.

Hi,
It's finally sorted...at a cost. I had two nuts made up by a local engineer...$50 for two nuts..!!!
I'd be keen to have a look through that bucket at the club house.
Thanks to all those that offered some advise.

Hi Kenny,
i had no luck with the parts box at Green Park, all that is left is a Suzuki kick start leaver, a fuel hose and a tank hold down rubber strap, brand unknown. One of our other club members, who has heaps of Huskys, did find a front axle nut yesterday and gave it to me. I tried it on my 83 Husky today, but it's way to big. You're still welcome to come up with a metal detector if you want, you will find heaps of parts.
