Title: Farleigh castle MXdN 18/19 sept update
Post by: dave king on August 02, 2010, 05:22:11 pm
just 7 weeks ish till we kick off the 2010 vets MXdN,    Most of the classes were full in march but we have just closed the Book  as we are completly full.   Dave thorpe, eric geboers and jeff leisk are our headliners racing on both days.  3 RC 500 Hondas are currently prepped and ready for there riders to take to farleigh one more time. Make no mistake this will be the one and only time these 3 guys will ride together it will never happen again.  Other ex GP guys racing are.. rob herring, grayham noyce, werner dewitt, neil prince, greg hanson, pete mathia, brian wheeler, russ jarman etc..   5  x world champion and Belgian legend Georges Jobe will be our guest of honour  and hopefully Andre malherbe and Harry everts will be with us also,  harry is currently re scheduling his travel to the USA to attend farleigh.

The main event will be the Twinshock MXdN , the teams this year will be racing for the "Danny Magoo Chandler" MXdN Trophy,  This stands some 3ft tall and had been kindly purchased by  Mr Dave Grant who was Dannys manager when danny raced in europe in 85  { we made sure the trophy was big enough not to be able to be carried on a flight to australia as hand luggage as a dissinsentive for the ozzies to win it!}

Teams   England , France, Belgum,Germany, spain, scotland,Australia,Holland,Monaco. with Italy and latvia a strong possibility.
Farleigh opens up on thursday 16 sept

Sign up is on friday 17 sept between 10am and 6pm only.

Brad, Rusty and Chris Hall are the other 3 riders.
The format is 2 x 20min moto's Sat and 2 x 20mins Sunday.
It won't be easy...there's a few ex GP riders in the field but we'll do our best.

I wish I was going.....I made plans with my Pom mate but the impending operation buggered any chance of travel. Not to worry, you blokes will do us proud. What a shame there's no Yank riders....Lackey, LaPorte, Smith etc.....How come Dave? There are plenty of old pros racing twin shock / vintage in the USA these days.

When i started Farleigh VMXdN i wanted to create a event that riders and fans wanted to attend because they love vintage motocross ,   everyone who attends farleigh does it on there own $$$$$$$$$$$$.   If i pay one rider then the event is finished simply because we dont have ££££££££££££££ to pay anyone.  Every man and his dog thinks big meetings makes big £££. wrong ...if i worked out the hours i put in to the event i would be far better off working in McDonalds!!!!!!!   True. I only do it because i love our sport.

Oh and a certain painter Rob Kinsey took it on himself before the 2009 event to write and distribute to his american chums an  e mail saying how crap the event would be. And for his american chums to stay away from my our event.    What a tosser!!!!

Good on you Dave!!!
The Freakin Yanks are always pulling the 'you never pay enough' card so more power to those that are going on their own funds. To me it just shows how great your event is to have full teams from all the other countries entered.
Go for it.

I have been told today, that speedway have also come under entry restrictions from USA due to Chad the Lad earning too much mulla,so have slowed up on the motor sports intake.
Times are tough-another sign on the global financial market maybe !

He's apparently got extra beer tokens on hand in case you track him down. Only caveat is, it'll be warm strong ale, not cold weak lager ;D

John and I are doing the trip together and we are now fairly sorted with tickets and motor home.
I will be broke as when I get back but the memories will be worth it . Once we are done there we will be going to the MXDN in Colorado.

Good luck Brad and co.
After seeing you in period costum(CD7) it's only right that you bleed at little :D
Lucky you haven't been behind 20 sidecars in a first turn, a little nose bleed is the bare minimum.

I think 3 times this year.........King of the Castle, Maxxis British Championship and Vets MXdN.  The fields are returned to pasture condition after each event.  I would say that Dave King and his crew are working on the area as we speak (or type), clearing up after the round of the British Championships.

Sorry, a week ahead of myself.  The Maxxis Championships are on next weekend, and then Dave and crew will move in to have the area regrassed and smoothed out for the Vets.

I am riding the vets class at the british championships nest weekend 15 august so i will be inspecting the track condition lap per lap.  Up until this year farleigh was only ever used 2 times a year,   3 times this year is hardly overuse.

I have a very special entrance planned for dave thorpe/eric geboers and jeff leisk...............    Dont think its ever been done before at a motocross........   cant wait.

This morning I received the following email from KKs man on the spot at the weekends Classic XMdN, Ben Penny. I'm sure we'll hear a more detailed report fairly soon.
Yikes!  What a cracker that was.

MASSIVE meeting ~ 450 riders.

As you came over the hill all you could see were cars trucks bike.  It was huge.  lots and lots of people.

Couldnt even find your lads!  I am not kidding, I looked for them!  Stuff absolutely everywhere.

They were going really well in the Team races, but one chap seemed to have a spot of bike trouble.....  shame as it is a long way to come to have a bike problem.

If you look on the Adrenaline Trip website there are lots of images there.  The pros will no doubt post links to the really cool pics in due course.

I forgot my camera ~ what a plonker!

I hope your lads had a good time and can make it back again next year.  It is great to have overseas riders support the events, it adds a really nice dimension to the whole thing.

Talk soon
Ben
