Title: Instant gasket on reed block
Post by: utsman on January 02, 2008, 10:50:43 am
So here's is the story,

I pulled my cr500 down partly to have a look at the reeds etc. Anyway all looks good but of course te reed block gasket is stuffed. I ordered a new one two weeks ago from Honda and it's gonna be at least another week.NOOOOO. I want to ride these holidays.Usually parts like that only take a few days.

Can I get one from anywhere else or has anyone ever used instant gasket there. I know it will seal but I don't like the idea. Usually when you tighten the bolts the stuff squishes out and I don't want bits breaking off and getting sucked into the motor.

ANY ideas.

You could also go to the nearest Super cheap (they are always just around the corner where ever you live) and grab some gasket paper it works a treat.
It's a sheet of cardboard like material that's designed to be used as a gasket, just cut out the rough size you need, place it against the surface you need to seal and gently tap with a hammer, this will leave an indentation on the paper which you cut out to give you the perfect gasket. I use it all the time for that kind of thing and it's as cheap as chips.

Thanks Guys,

It's all good. 090 sorted me out with a new gasket. Who would of thought the gasket from an 84 model would fit the 93, but hey, it does.

Thanks again 090

I'm with evo..I make all my gaskets excepting the head gasket and this I'd be making also if I had a selection of copper sheet. What I like about making base and top end gaskets is you can make them a much better match to port openings and such..better than they do at the factory anyway ;)
