And it gets worse, ####*** if thats possible. I could have bought a 360a at the same time for $350.00 but I went for the new MX400 instead, O if only I had a crystal ball. HL

Yes, I understand the US got white ones before the grey ones came out. Can anyone confirm that?
-
There all silver...I think it's the reflection of the sun.

Hell that 250A cheaper than what you can get for a rough B on Aussie Ebay.
Probably says something about the US economy, the good stuff is coming out. ;D

I didn't know that.
I think I prefer the white/red - more racey 8), and more 'Yamaha' - I would prefer the genuine OW look even more 8).

NOpe as DC says all "A" where Silver, same as the DT2MX it was based on, white never came out till the 76' ranges.
This guy has just repainted it white when he restored it, there are black ones and yellow ones painted up in the states that i know of, some also fitted with the chequered 125 logo "B" tanks,
they look good to for somthing differant. if i had a shit tank to respay id have a crack at another colour too.

Hey Graeme, speaking of early YZ's are you still wanting to build that replica of the Torsten Hallmand YZ763 works bike? You were toying with the idea a couple of years ago and since then we haven't heard anything. The reason I ask, I promised you one of my spare frames but I discovered it was rusted out so the deal fell apart. I've got another DT1(actually it's a DT2 but they're same.) frame I'm getting rid of that another forum member will take if nobody else wants it so I'll throw it at you first .....are you still going ahead with the project and if so do you want my frame?
-
See how Hot do they look in other colours.
;D love it.

The Hallsman is on the back backburner ::). There are some pretty major issues of hybriding the two frames. It's probably a better sollution to start with a DT2MX frame. I haven' t given up on the idea but it's a long long way off - and probably won't happen ::). But notwithstanding, I've got the DT/RT frame bits I think I need so pass on your frame to someone who can make good use of it :).

There was some guy selling a Torsten Hallmand works bike tank the other day wasn't what you call cheapish thou.

There was never any white models YZ PRODUCTION MODELS MADE., USA got there first batch in 1974 YELLOW. Australia and Canada Got the fisrt batch of YZ A Silver.
-
Every YZ a I saw here in the US was silver and red. The YZ A models were sold here as 74 models. My uncle picked up a new YZ250A in late 73 or early 74. The 72 DT2 250 and RT2 360 were silver and red, the 73 MX 360 was silver /red while the 73 MX 250 was silver with yellow stripe. I had a 73 MX250 for a while. The first yellow bikes we saw here were the 74 MX models. The first yellow YZs we saw here were the 1975 B models with monoshock. My uncle had a YZ250A, YZ250 B and YZ250 C in this era. The YZ models in the Us continued to be Yellow until the 85 models -starting the wht red until 96, when the blue came in.
Still, that black and red color scheme is a knock out. I love it. BTW when most YZ A models started hitting the tracks again in the early 90s, most were re done in wht/red. We always wanted to make our US bound Yzs white and red like all the others in the world.
