I'm looking for a set of alloy go kart wheels and tyres for a project I'm working on for CD8. The wheels don't have to be the latest spec and the tyres only need to hold air. I'd also like a set of hubs to suit the bolt pattern if that's possible. Because this is a "silly little project" I don't want to spend a shitload of money so as cheap as possible would be good. Thanks ;D.
-
i dont think they are allowed to use the older split rims any more so you should find them cheap enough. ian willy will have old race tyres you just need to pay the postage.
-
Who's Ian Willy and how do I contact him Freaky?
-
My mind boggles at what yours has dreamt up this time Firko ???
Come on, end the suspence, give us a hint.
Trike maybe ??? yeah my guesss is a "pit trike"
Come on mr Firko, it's time to move forward, give us a hint.

My guess is a 'little red wagon' with mag wheels just like Daffy Duck used to own… ;D
-
Or he might be putting a ramp in and building a hybrid motorized wheel chair in case the ankle goes pear shaped. ;D
-
When you said 'ramp' I thought Firko was joining the Metal Mulisha? :o
He would be the first one with a Maico tattoo!! 8)

Or a scaled down trailer for the margarita blending machine :D
yeah your probably right, a little red wagon. probably fed up with carrying the margarita machine from camp to camp.
-
One of you is tantalisingly close but to disclose the plot this early would spoil the surprise. ;D
Come on, go kart wheels.....anyone?

I can't wait to the next CD meeting to find out ???
I'm curious now :-\
this might cause me enough stress to start drinking again.

What about the pneumatic tyres and wheels on those furniture trolleys that Super Cheap have on special every now and again?
-
YEs rosco 10 points. Ian williams. Im down there this week if you like ill ask, there was a whole pile of bald old slick down there the last time i was there doing SFA. THere woul dbe some hubs there too but again condition and price. PM me if you like about how you want to use them as there may be some there broken in the scap metal bin and you can just weld up your own centers in the alloy or bend broken dont matter etc.
-
Firko, on most go carts the front wheels have bearings built into them, there is no hub persay, like a car set up. If you want to drive the wheels you will need the rear rims, axle and flanges.

Thanks but no thanks. They've gotta be fatties and alloy.

Firko alot of the modern Euro karts circa 2000 upwards also (DPE karts - Drew Price - Arrow karts/monaco GP in Mulgrave Vic) have the seperate front hubs to bolt front rims like the rear. The front hubs have the bearings and come in different widths and i think 2 different bearing diameters.
Its hard to get hold of 2nd hand because most people keep them for wets.....like me ;D
Sometimes they go for higher than a new set.
Check DPE karts site
I use/used AGP (australian go-kart spares)in Springvale,Melb and they sell online from memory.
There is a price list/catalogue from what i remember.
Bob and Marg Ulhorn are great to deal with and they may have 2nds for you.

I am really inclined to think, that firko has his ankle in mind and is indeed "thinking forward" about travelling from camp to camp with a matching trailer to cart the margarita blending machine on, at CD8.
The trouble is firko, you would know as well as anyone that design is top heavy with a dangerous CG. There is a good, no, highly Probable chance that on the way back to your own camp, at say 1am. that you could end upside down in a ditch with a margarita machine and an esky on top of you. Try explaining that one at the local ED.
Hey firko, do you not remember the incident down at the local quarry when you were going to show your neigbour "how to ride" his new TS400 Apache?
I wish I could find where I put that. I will never forget reading that! it was the funniest thing I ever read in my life.

I reckon you'd want knobby tyres though as those slick tyres would just spin on slightly dewy grass. Wheelbarrow wheels maybe? Also a little more ground clearance to avoid getting stuck on the smallest little bumps. That one would be good on hard ground though (tar/concrete)
-
Ah Mick, you've fallen into my evil trap. Sadly, I'm not building a racing bar stool, not with my crook sense of balance and those teeny weeny wheels on uneven dirt ground! I thought I'd throw that photo in to put you guys off the trail for a while but this appears to be growing legs so it's best to nip it in the bud before it grows into a monster. I'm building a project with go cart wheels but it's nothing near as dangerous as a bar stool!
